Just thought I'd start a new thread to get everyones ideas for the answer to the Trials HD Riddle. It will be answered on the 10th of April, so you have a few days to get your thoughts together. I will put them all into the OP, so please post your ideas below. Please also limit them to a reasonable length (1-2 paragraphs) to keep this concise.
So, before the answer is finally revealed, what do YOU think it is? I'll also go back over the easter egg thread and post some of the better comments about the quest to solve this thing also, will be nice to look over this once it's all answered?
If you need a refresher of the clues, check out this post:
Question: What is the only constant?
Answer: Change
Considering each track on Trials HD can be finished relatively quickly yet can be replayed almost indefinitely with new ways to shave off some milliseconds. Also evolution could be construed as change.
Start and finish may stay the same but the route(s) in between are infinite
then again... what do i know http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/think.gif
oh well that is my submission

What stands out the most is how appreciative I am of the riddle itself. It has taken a group of people with a similar interest and made a subtle attempt at expanding our knowledge and sending us deeper into a seemingly bottomless rabbit hole. And the journey is self inflicted. Completely optional.

I've even toyed with the idea of the riddle to do with different forms of communication/symbolism. Every clue I can think of (off the top of my head) is trying to communicate a message of somekind via a code/different vehicle to do so. DNA, Binary, Fibonacci, Darwin, Space record thing, golden ratio, cave paintings etc.
Just thought I'd put this out there to see what people think and to kick start some interest in this again as we seem at a loose end at the moment. I've also toyed with the idea that it's not the final message the of the riddle that's important but the task of finding it in itself. I.e. the quest for knowledge and the human endeavour to further our knowledge of the universe. The learning process. But maybe my brain is just getting convoluted now, I don't know.

my dad said it could be a space oddity 2001 has they had a mystery box or just the big bang theory.

these are some of the things leading me to think this:
fibonacci - reproduction
42 - meaning of life - reproduce??
interstellar record - go into space
Da Vinci - see video
divine proportion - overcrowding leading to end of world??
Orion - Project Orion
Darwin - evolving in space??
Tannen's box - jj abrams - lost - life in an unknown place??
kubrick - space oddysey
tunguska - comet destroying earth??
the map - the missing part was the undiscovered world then, space is ours now
mammoth - wiped out

If you are not given 'x' and not given 'y' then the only way you can solve the equation is by letting one of the variables equal a constant. So if I say, x = 40, then we can figure out the value of y. My point being that unless there is a vital piece still missing from the puzzle, I don't think there can be an objective, explicit meaning to the riddle. Maybe we need to ask ourselves a couple of questions.
No matter what the answer to the riddle is, is there any answer that wouldn't dissapoint you?
Do we really believe that 42 is the answer to "What is the meaning of life?"?
Can there exist in the universe an unanswerable question or an unquestionable answer?
My old maths lecturer used to always say that there was always more beauty in a simple answer to a problem than a convoluted one.
One last thing, I was looking at the ‘Lascaux Hunters’ cave painting easter egg earlier on and couldn't help but notice that there is suspiciously close to 42 planks of wood (12 on the right, 30 on the left) used to construct the illustration http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...con_e_wink.gif
Maybe I just think too much...

If we use the question for the Ultimate Answer (42), "What is the meaning to life, the universe, and everything?", we are left with many things that man has been exploring and trying to understand.
We don't know for certain what happened to Roanoke. We haven't completely decoded human DNA. We don't know why the pyramids point to Orion. We don't know if out unmanned deep-space probes will ever be found by non-human sentient life. JJ Abrams hasn't opened his mystery box, so we don't know what is inside. Da Vinci tried to do things that technology wasn't prepared for, or able to build.
Most of the clues point to things we don't know, but the answers to which we seek out. Such as Darwin's "Tree of Life", why did the species of Earth evolve this way?
If the question FatShady has come up with is correct, then the other clues point me towards the question being:
What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything?
With the answer of:
The pursuit of knowledge for the advancement of civilization.
There are still pieces that do not, in my eyes, fit. But the overall question and answer seem to be on the right track. Well, I think so. I know that some of you guys will disagree and pick apart my theory.
Please do. Only in adversity do we learn who we really are.

On the upside though even if we don't get this solved maybe it's just about the learning involved in it,
maybe the question is as simple as what can we do when we put our minds to it?

All of the clues seem to link to things that were ahead of their time, or to the evolution of species:
Da Vinci, of course, with the skills in painting, engineering, etc., was way ahead of his time, and thus very famous. Mona Lisa is still thought to be one of the best paintings of all time, Da Vinci mastered the technique of blending the colors.
The Orion constellation & the Divine Proportion link to the Egyptians, whose culture was ahead of their time, as well, and which is the base of the modern culture. The Orion star constellation is apparently visible through a small shaft in the Great Pyramid. The pyramids of Giza are positioned by the Fibonacci spiral. (http://www.glebedigital.co.uk/giza1.jpg)
The Darwin tree links directly to evolution.
The DNA is where all the info about what you are and how you are is stored. Direct link to evolution, again.
Piri Reis map was much more precise than any maps from that era.
The only things I can't seem to link to this theory are the Tunguska Event and the Two Boxes, but maybe someone can figure out how they link in. So, my theory is: "What's next? Evolution.".

On another thought, a lot of them seem to do with space, as well... Wasn't Da Vinci thought to have gotten his skills from aliens in some crazy theory? Anyways, someone else can write about that!

Re: Your Last Chance to Answer the Riddle
^ What Oski said.
From the very beginning I always thought that, but I thought it was said that it was incorrect?
When Evo was announced, I had thought that the riddle was all pointing towards the new game... i don't know anymore.
