Deleting Blocks Painfully Slow
Since having the DLC and update I have been wanting to create some more levels so I decided it was time to just clear out the room entirely of blocks to give me maximum space to work with.
BUT
deleting the room blocks is now so unresponsive it is taking and absolute age. It never used to be like this. You could quickly tap between A and X and just delete about 7 blocks in a row per second but now it takes so much longer it's unreal.
Is the only way to get around this is clearing my caches, deleting the dlc then unplugging my ethernet and going back into the editor pre-updated?
Re: Deleting Blocks Painfully Slow
This isn't because of the DLC OR the patch, this happened even before. You cannot delete all the blocks in the room without making the level lag badly. Don't do it, don't waste your time anymore; I learned this early on. If you want a good templete, mine is 70 rooms long, 4 or 5 high and 5 or so wide. All you see is fog.
Re: Deleting Blocks Painfully Slow
Ok I'll give it a go but I am sure it didn't do it before.
I had already made a room with the blocks deleted 4 wide, 5 high and as far along as possible and it never lagged then.
It was that level that I wanted to expand by pushing the walls back further and from the very first block deleted I noticed the difference.
I'll use the default space and try deleting from that to see if it helps.

Trust me. It did do it before. I tried to make an empty room before and I was noticing the blocks were being deleted much slower, than I went to place objects and it was going slow through the menu also checkpoints took forever and lagged. I'm guessing it has to do with rendering of the level. Having such a large open room has to know where all the blocks were deleted from or something like that.
Just stick to deleting blocks as necessary after making a template and you should be fine.

Re: Deleting Blocks Painfully Slow
Not to disagree with any of the other posts but I had a huge open map and i found that the thing slowing it down was a tree i made at the beginning of the track by gluing many planks together then scattering the trees around the map, when I deleted them, the editor was fast again. I think that the thing that really slows down the editor now is that it is more sensitive to the room complexity.

Is a huge open map ALL of the room blocks? or a good majority of them? Cause thats what causes it. NEVER use glued objects together unless you really need it, that causes lag. As does too many explosions and a lot of lights in one area.
Re: Deleting Blocks Painfully Slow
one of my friends built a map that he designed to lag at the start you ride down this big ramp with bombs falling all around you and as you enter the ramp a few big balls and bombs go within in inch of the bike (unless your a little slow) and it lags and looks like slow mo as they pass you looks amazing
Re: Deleting Blocks Painfully Slow
worst problem i found was spending too many hours creating only to find when i tried to save id used all memory then had to spend too much time deleting stuff till i could save.... nightmare
Re: Deleting Blocks Painfully Slow
thanks for the help guys my editor was running slow and couldnt figure out why it was just because the amount of wall block i had removed and a very complex piece of glueing lol
