Trials Network
Site Name
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TheTrials.NET (formerly TrialsHD.net)
New Ideas
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Notification System
2. Rival tracking and matching
3. Create your own tournament (just like in game tournament but with your own tracks)
4. Single elimination online tournament brackets
5. Mobile application (android)
Existing Ideas
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Generate more site achievements (possibly give out rewards as well)
2. Site redesign (new look and feel)
3. Upgrade the user portal to have all the information you want to present to your friends
4. Consolidate Trials information (Secrets, Easter eggs, Track creator tips)
Goal
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To have a one stop shop to promote, follow and compete with your fellow trials players while giving you all the information needed in one nice, easy to use package.
Extra Info
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Making some changes to the site to allow PC users to register on the site.
Why would I do something like that you ask, since they have track central?
I would say good question my dear chap! The goal is to upgrade the site slowly to be more of a tournament/friend tracking community.
What does this mean?
Well if you notice your tracks not getting enough attention on track central then maybe you can post them on the site and promote it that way.
What about the idea of following certain track creators and when they make an update you can get an email or something stating this and you can get his track from TC.
If I run tournaments with single or double elimination I would like to give track creators something if we end up using their tracks, so that would be a good way for us to track what track users competed on and not just state that player 1 beat player 2 on the first round.
I got some other ideas floating around in my head, that I need to iron out.
Let me know if you guys have any ideas you wish implemented.
http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...icon/dance.gif
New name change for the site. It's going to be called The Trials Network (TheTrials.Net)
Working on a feature for you to follower you favorite track creator and a notification system of when they
1. Create a new track
2. Update the track information
3. If you posted scores and someone beat it
4. Track comments? still undecided
You would choose the options you wish to track for a specific creator, so if you only care about new tracks you can select that option and forget the rest.
I don't really like emailing notifications so for the time being I'm thinking of just placing it on the site and when you go a popup will let you know that hey something you are interested in just came up.
I will be building an android app for this in the future as well, so that way you can just get a quick glance and the info is there if you are on your xbox and are not close to a tv, you can just check the track name and creator from there.
I'm thinking about re designing the site as well, but that is a last minute thing I need to get functionality going.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
Sounds really cool. It would give me more incentive to play and master more peoples tracks instead of playing them without really trying to master them.
-
Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
Definitely interested ... you may have noticed I have recently posted a leaderboard of fastest times on my forum page.
The only thing with doing a universal one with many courses by many creators on one page is that as the author of the page you're going to be responsible for having to sort through all the scores and log them as you'll be the only one who can edit it. If it's popular and lots of people start posting you their fastest times it could be a time-consuming job ... Unless each creator is responsible for their own leaderboard on their own post within your "Leaderboard" topic.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
HAHA I got the idea from your post actually. Glad to see people are interested.
The way I'm doing it now is...
Creator Posts the Track information and Medals faults and times.
Users search for the tracks and registers to them. They will enter their times and faults into the system.
When people search for the track it will show the leaderboards depending on what people entered.
This model obviously goes by the honor system. But that way is in itself manageable.
-
Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
I finished the first part of the site.
http://www.gamescrubs.com
I used my old website for this and hopefully people will use it, since I would like to test it out.
So far is very simple, you register and click on add new track on the control panel. Fill out the form and register the track in the system.
Once the track is in the system you can search for it by name and when the list loads. Click on the name to view details. If you are logged in you can click on the Add Track button and that will allow you to enter scores for that specific track.
After you have added a track for ranking, just go to the control panel click the update score link enter your faults and time and submit it. It should automatically update the leaderboards for that track.
There is a bunch of stuff I still need to do like.
Better error handling
Search by criterias
Better Design <-- not a designer
New Images
Logout
Forgot Password
Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. Hopefully this website will work.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
Excellent idea, let's see how much interest you get and whether it works. I shall certainly be using the site, it's bookmarked already!!!
Regarding any suggestions: I think you need to have a search for tracks by track name or by gamertag if possible. So people can just type my gamertag or your gamertag or whatever and get a list of all tracks by that user.
Anyway, have just registered so I shall upload my tracks and stuff now and my fastest times for them.
Many thanks for setting this up!

I need to also add the ability to update the track you created >_< I forgotz

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
You mentioned a better design in your earlier post so that was a call to put my two-bit Photoshop skills to action. Here is a quick mock-up of what I envisioned the site to be:

Good job on that design mock up.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site

I could slice it up but I haven't the slightest idea on how to 'CSS it up'. I have a vague idea of what CSS is but that is the extent of it.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
I just started upping my tracks info and I made an error and I can't delete nor edit it!
-
Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
I will do the same for my tracks as well, but it will have to wait until I next turn on the Xbox, as I can't remember my medal settings. http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...on_e_smile.gif
The site looks great though!

I added the ability to edit your tracks. Just log in and on the control panel click on the name of the track to view details. On the details page you will see an edit button and it should load all the previous data and allow you to modify it.
Hope this helps

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
great idea. I just started registering my tracks. I uploaded one of my skill game tracks and thought of a suggestion. How about adding the ability to specify what type of track it is (racing, flip, down the stairs, and so on) and have the medal times change to reflect that (i.e. Down the Stairs medals based on number of broken bones).
At any rate, this is a great contribution to the community, bravo.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
oh shoot I completely forgot about the other types of tracks. AAAAAAAAARGH! I'll try to incorporate them, just have to think about it for a bit.
Do you know the names of all the available modes you can create?
Thanks though!

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
Great idea and the site is coming along great! I am adding all my tracks, some of them I had to redo once just to make a time because I didn't do the current version out of the editor http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image.../icon_razz.gif

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
Hi guys I purchased the domain TrialsHD.Net and we can use that instead of gamescrubs.com. Usually my original domain name causes people to shy away from the site and hopefully the new domain name will entice people to check it out.
I set it up with godaddy just waiting them to set it up on their end.
I'm working on adding the other modes soon, I already got an idea on how to get it done on paper I just need to flow chart it and code id up.
I'm thinking of also changing the model for track users no needing to create an account. They just go to the site and enter their data and that is it.
Problem with that model is that there is no feeling of ownership and there is less I can do in terms of statistics. But on the other hand we might get more users to post their scores. Still thinking about this idea.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
I can't post my high scores on other people's track, can't figure how.
EDIT: Figured it out, nevermind, but it's very confusing at first.
Suggestions:
-Browse tracks option.
-View position in the My Score tab whitout clicking on a track.
-
Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
ink3i I will try to turn your image into a css layout if that's ok with you.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard Site
Oh and in the Tracks Details (Tracks should have an s) The word "Extras" doesn't show to the left of the Extras description.
One more thing, when you click on someone's name, it redirects tou to their LIVE page, which is great, but I'd like it better if it could display the all of the user's maps, with a link to the LIVE page of course. (maybe a button next to the username for the LIVE page)
I really like your site, this is why I leave so much criticism, not to bash your work, I know it is very early and it is already very promising, keep up the good work http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...on_e_smile.gif

HAHA go bananas I agree with all of your ideas and the more feedback I get the better the website can become. I'm compiling a list of things I need to do and things to better enhance the user experience. I just need to prioritize the work real quick and right now the fact that I made it only for racing tracks is buggin me so I'm working on adding the other track types, then again 99% of my tracks are racing types haha.

I sort of got the template done..

But I made a single page instead of an actual template by accident http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...s/icon_cry.gif
If you like it I'll make it into a template

I do appreciate the fact that you are trying to help out and mostly likely I will take your design. But just in case.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard - TrialsHD.net - [Updated] 09-25-09
Wow, loving what I see so far, good work fella.
Having just created my first track I was hoping there would be some way of recording peoples times without the need for paper and pencil! Will be uploading my track details when my xbox returns from red ring heaven.
Will it be possible to associate descriptive tags with the tracks; for more detailed searching; or is this just a pain in the arse/unnecessary? Just a thought.
Also you should include the URL in your original post http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...con_e_wink.gif

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard - TrialsHD.net - [Updated] 09-25-09
Great site, but one thing i would really really like to see is, is a "see all tracks" option, i dont know many gamertags due to memory loss http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image.../icon_razz.gif would this be possible to have a "list" of all the tracks we can post our scores on http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image..._e_biggrin.gif
-
Re: Custom Track Leaderboard - TrialsHD.net - [Updated] 09-25-09
Seconded, we should be able to browse users and tracks.
-
Re: Custom Track Leaderboard - TrialsHD.net - [Updated] 09-25-09
Search by users is there
http://trialshd.net/PlayerSearch.aspx
I can create a query for a dump of all tracks on the page. I'll get that for you guys tomorrow. I notice a lot of people putting up their tracks but not their times. Kinda defeats the purpose, oh well I'm still putting up the scores waiting for them to update them.
Right now working on L0rds Stages hehe.

Re: Custom Track Leaderboard - TrialsHD.net - [Updated] 10-02-09
Love the new look website. The updated graphics and things, more in keeping with the images of the game, look fantastic.
Regarding your initiative for a tournament, I think it's a good idea. Regarding which tracks etc, my personal choice would be no Extreme or Extreme+ tracks, keep it to Easy, Medium or Hard rated tracks only. If you made a tournament featuring 3 really hardcore courses you may get more than 500 faults combined and more than 30:59.999 in time which you can't currently input. Plus, it would probably be too frustrating for most people (myself included). I'd also say no more than 1 course per creator in any tournament for the sake of variety and I'd also keep it to only about 3 courses in length. Too many courses and not everyone will have them all.
Perhaps you could choose the courses based on your "most popular" table? So currently, a tournament would consist of my most popular track, Asleepmeunier's most popular track and QcChopper's most popular track. Anyway, those are my initial thoughts but I'd play it and record my time so that's one person for your tournament leaderboard atleast!

Do you have to verify anything? Seems like a good idea but what's to stop someone lying about their times and faults?
I've signed up anyway, site looks great http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...on_e_smile.gif
