Level Editor limit..
I noticed in some gameplay footage that there is a little bar called "Room Complexity" .. Is that supposed to be the limit bar to let us know when we've completely filled the entire room available..?
Or am I wrong, And we have infinite space & resources to mess around with..?
Surely, there must be some sort of limit due to the 360's memory constraints & tech...,
If not. That is truly INSANE .. And I love you for it! http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...on_mrgreen.gif
Just wanted to know. http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...n_question.gif http://forum.redlynx.com/forum/image...con_e_geek.gif

Re: Level Editor limit..
i think the limit is about 1000 objects, and/or a certant length.
i`m pretty sure i have read it here in the forums one place or another

Re: Level Editor limit..
Limit is dynamic. Objects that take more recources "weight" more. But all the tracks that come within the game are made generally by same rules. And if you make your level in reasonable way you show never encouter the room that is filled.
I think sebbi can fill more on this issue.

Re: Level Editor limit..
As stated on another thread in this site it is said that the file size for custom maps will be around a max of 65Kbs in size..
This is great news in deed if this is in fact true..

Re: Level Editor limit..
I have hit the cap on both maps I created. Not much of a problem, I realize it is there to keep the frame rate up, but with all the neat toys and items to drop in, I sometimes wish it was higher. Check out my maps if you would like. BACKDRAFT and INDIANA JONES> Gamertag: Gryphon Steele

Re: Level Editor limit..
I keep hitting a limit that is NOT shown by the room complexity bar.
A number of times now I have gone to save a level and I get the message saying "you have too many objects, please delete some and resave".
Nowhere in the level has the complexity bar hit full so this is a limit that I don't understand as it isnt shown visually.
Very frustrating when you have made a track with a busy backdrop only to be told when you save that there is too much in the level.

Re: Level Editor limit..
Yeah, there should be some sort of counter for the object count.. Having your objects maxed when you were going to say make the track 1/3 longer can really screw up the track and there is not much you can do about it.

Re: Level Editor limit..
It seems there is a confusion between object limit and room complexity.
I think the object limit, rumoured to be 1000, is actually a sum of all object 'points'.
Think of object points as follows:-
Static objects - 1 point
Animated objects (fire etc)- 2 points
Dynamic objects (Physics affected objects) - 4 points
So if your track has 1 static rock - 1 static ramp - 1 ring of fire and a steel plate that falls over when the bike hits it, the sum of points used = 1+1+2+4 so 8 (4 objects, 8 points)
These points I have given are hyprethetical for the example as I don't know the true points system.
-------------------
Room Complexity is mearly a indicator that limits lots of things going on in one area. e.g 10 rings or fire and 5 big bombs on screen together would slow the frame rate considerably so the room complexity indicator forces you to space things like this out a bit.
Please be aware that the above info is pieced together from what I have learned and read in these forums, if I am wrong then please feel free to correct me.

Re: Level Editor limit..
I had the room complexity meter jump from about 20% to overload by trying to place a single spotlight. My guess was that it would have caused too many objects to be simultaneously visible from some specific advantage point. Either that, or I hit a bug. :/
