Mush,
This thread is to help people fix their FC3 game from the Major issues that plague it and that's why I was bumping it.
Since it is such a helpful thread Steam forums already pinned the redirect to here.
So is it possible to Pin/Sticky this thread to help new players fix their FC3 game so that they can actually play it? If so Then I will gladly stop bumping it, otherwise if I stop bumping it then new players won't be able to find it to fix their game and they will most likely get a refund due to frustrations and or write new threads to get help and get none...
Thanks for your time -EternalCore
Better yet is it possible for Ubi to fix the game already? I ran it fine until I upgraded and now it crashes on launch, tried every single trick in the thread and nothing..
Brand new computer, clean install of Windows 8, all drivers up to date.. every other one of my 300+ steam games working without flaw...
guess they want to tell me it's something with my computer and not the game?
I recommend not just making something up as a response..
it must be Windows 8, which is why the other 3 gaming machines in my household running windows 8 run this game with no issue.
Maybe it's because I have an AMD card, even though 2 of those 3 machines have AMD cards.
this has nothing to do with Windows 8 and everything to do with the shoddy programming of Ubisoft, and no developers are not pulling support from Windows 8.
If you don't believe me then feel free to google it for your self and if you read this whole thread you will see that most of it is users with win8 who can't run this game, then when they switch back to win7 the game runs flawlessly.
Btw I know what I'm talking about and I didn't make anything up, except for the Help I offer; Which has helped tons of people already.
P.S. Arguing with the OP aka me, who has contributed hours and hours of support for this game, is never a good idea especially when I have over 20yrs of experience and training and when I have tested every scenario for this game to fix it all.
Yea is that why the title of the thread is 8/ 7 and Vista and not 8?
if 8 were the issue why does the game work on every other computer I own running 8?
and no developers are not dropping 8 because of issues, Valve has said 8 is bad for gamers because MS included GFWL in it and they fear MS is going to try to push all software to go to it's new appstore, it has nothing to do with issues with Windows 8.
Your being the OP does not mean you are not talking out of your rear on that one.
the issue is not the OS, it's this game, if it were the OS I'd not be able to play every other game on the planet without flaw.. there is pretty much not a single major or indy game I don't own, and they all run.
*edit* and I found the issue and resolved it, it's the game, it does not like data being pooled with storage spaces which has been around for years in home server, let's all blame storage spaces rather than the only game on the planet that does not like working on it.
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. I currently am running Windows 8 and after trying all of the fixes in this thread (including replacing RAM), I still immediately crash on start-up with various dll errors "MSVCR100.dll, FC3.dll" and sometimes a referenced memory error. I do have Steam (and thus FarCry 3) installed on my H: storage pool, so I wonder if my issue is similar to yours.Quote:

What exactly did you do to fix the problem?
And thanks for all of your help, EternalCore. Hopefully we'll get some patches to fix this whole mess.
That makes no sense as I have both the game and uplay on a seprate drive and it works flawlessly. <- I'm using the uplay version on Win7Pro.
Oh and It wouldn't Surprise me if that issue is only on Win8.
Did you try solution 3?
While I agree that ubisoft is to blame for their game not working well I can say from experience as well that Windows 8 is terrible for compatibility reasons and I have had multiple issues with games ever since I installed it on this new build of mine a few months ago.
Wimdows 8 is like vista with touch capability :S
The only thing that has issues are games with GFWL clients, in which case the client needs a newer version installed..
I've not found a single game that will not run on 8 just fine, and I've got almost 400 games on steam.
The common theme in games not working, are crappy clients that nobody wants (GFWL, Uplay)
And that last line was really bogus, 8 is super fast, and super stable.. the new features are fantastic even if Metro is Meh-tro..
I have an problem and I didn't find it anything.
When I go multiplayer, and enter in a match, after the match is finished when it supossed to go to the report screen of the games, it crashes and stop responding and then when I change in the options from DirectX 11 to 9, this problem don't happen anymore.
Anyone could help me with that?
Thank you very much!
I have played for about 8 hours without a problem but then I got a crash and now I get
"farcry 3 has stopped working" on the load screen.
Hey, I was trying to find anything to help with my, "Uplay password is already in service," issue. This thread is all I found though. I already installed and registered, but now I'm having problems playing the game I just paid fifty bucks for. Can somebody tell me what to do when my password is already in use? And how that even happens?
Far Cry 3 Crashes after every MP game on PC. Please fix this problem ASAP.

So Far Cry 3 was working perfectly the other day and now it won't even launch into Uplay, I get error: 740. I have re-installed both Far Cry 3 and Uplay and I have tried every solution in the OP and it is still not working. Does anyone have any suggestions.
So step 3... it wants a directory for dx files. Where exactly do I install these?
I did/do have the issue where Far Cry 3 crashes on the splash screen.
The only fix that works for me is to relocate the installation so it isn't on my RAID system. The only other game I have with this issue is Saints Row - The 3rd.
Using Highpoint RocketRAID 640 in a RAID 10 configuration.
It runs fine on my SSD or a single SATA drive, but not the RAID for some reason. Have raised the issue with Highpoint.
Still no solution for this error?

At the end of MP Match game crash. I tried the Solution 1, it works but the game and the graphics looks terrible, its like Nintendo Wii graphics!!!
Any solution for this problem?
Thanx!
The game crashes for me too. Infrequently and I think recently only when my system is hosting a coop game. Searching around, seems like game crashes are a common problem with FarCry3. Here's what I got in my event viewer about a few of these...

Solution 1:
I did that and i could not even load the game. It went to the 1st little mini box then black screen Far cry 3 has stopped working.
So i undone what i did and i could load it and it went all the way yo what it normally did.
Solution 2(Directx11 Only):
I copied and pasted the code you gave.
"C:\Users\[user name]\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3"
And it says that it can't find the file. Could that be my problem?
I ain't going to go on to the rest has i have no time atm and no want to go on if i have found the problem. But not the fix and one of you people that is good with computers can tell me how.
Ok i got some time and went on the solution 3:
And downloaded the 1st one.And it says choose the location where i want to place the file. I am guessing it is in a farcry 3 file but want more info.Quote:
A newer verison of that is already on my computer.Quote:

I don't know what those are but looking at the programs given are secondly programs people use for recording/chating ingame. I don't use any of those.Quote:
Solution 4:
1. Disable/Close any Overlay or DirectX Hooking software before launching the game.
I may try this if my 1st question is not answered soon.Quote:

Uplay Users:
1A. Uninstall Uplay and FC3 from the "Programs and features" in your "Control Panel"

Solution 7:
Note: This solution will make Far Cry 3 startup with the bare minimum settings which is in windowed mode, using directx 9, with Low gfx settings and with the resolution 1024x768.
Neither "C:\Users\[user_name]\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3" nor the step #7 "C:\Users\[user_name]\Documents\My Games\" returns any results.Quote:
2. Open "GamerProfile.xml" with Notepad or Wordpad. <- if the file doesn't exist jump down to Number 7.
Trying to look though the early posts to see if i could find what a answer but having limited time and 44 pages plus not having a clue what i am doing is can of hard.
I have tried all the suggestions on this forum page, but nothing has helped.
I have uninstalled and re-installed twice, I have re-installed all the microsoft libraries and frameworks, I have run CCleaner and memtest (for 24 hrs).
My system is brand new:
i5 3570 @ 3.5GHz
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Ti
120 GB SSD
Pretty much the only things installed on it is uplay, steam, Skyrim, Team Fortress 2, and star wars battlefront ii.
Is there some diagnostic setting that can trace the problem? I really need this resolved, or I need to get a refund so I can buy something that works.
I had crash every 10-15 minutes. I have a nvidia gtx 690, it became very hot but only on Far Cry 3, I've never had any problems with my other games. I add two 12cm fans on the side of my case and now i don't have any crash.
Just completed the game today after not being able to play more than 15 minutes without a crash even after following the help at the start of this thread. I read on another forum that a nvidia rep was advicing people to go back to the 306.97 drivers and it worked for me, it also sorted out the hardware not found bug from hitman absolution. i have a 560 TI and windows 8.
I have tried all of the solutions on this page ( to the best of my ability - minus the OS reinstall ), I have tried reverting my gfx card drivers, I have tried nvidia inspector, and disabling the administrator approval. I have altered my nvidia gamer profile/graphic settings to match the ones discussed on the second page of this thread.
I can't seem to get Far Cry 3 to start up. Splash opens, as soon as the screen expands it crashes. I am including my system speccs to see if any of the wizards out there can help me play the game, I own it on Steam and own the Deluxe Edition. Below is some DXDiag info that might help someone help me. Thank you

hi, i am using geforce 560 ti (drivers up to date) and i couldn't launch the game at first. it just stopped responding after i clicked the play button on uplay. so i reinstalled my geforce driver (without removing the installed one, i just ran setup again) and the game worked perfectly... untill i restarted pc. it started not responding again. so i reinstalled gpu drivers again and it started working anyone know what may be the cause of this?
thanks

i did up grade my ram to 32 and not the 8 it comes with
thank you for your time.... also all of uplays games that i have are doing this weard thing it will frez up on me and then the game screen will go gray and when i do that alt, ctrl, del it will tell me that the game is not responding.
Thats because ****ty Ubisoft devs don't know how code their programs to work with removable decices or remote storage spaces. I've had the same problem. I tried junction points (using the mklink command) with varying degrees of success.
Your best bet is just to move your game folder to C:\ (assuming you don't have windows installed on a removable device). I can't believe they still haven't patched this issue with any of other games (assassin creed does the same thing). BTW OP your instructions suck.
I can vouch for this,
I just tried it and FINALLY AFTER 4 MONTHS OF CRASHING AT THE SPLASH SCREEN the game runs. I had the game installed on my storage drive D:/. However this is very much a temporary solution as I do not have the kind of space on my boot drive to install anything other than the OS. I have contacted support about this and I will report back again if it is fixed.
Eternal you might want to list this as a solution
