Does anyone else remember when Far Cry was just an island with some trees on it and a chrome dinosaur? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/em...icon_smile.gif Ok, it was more than that, but the real-time environment mapping really made an impression on me, heheh. They also had some nice DOT3 demos in there, as well as other fun things (like refraction.) Looking back at the old X-Isle screenshots, it's obvious how much work went into producing Far Cry from those old demos.
The X-Isle demo was very impressive for it's time, but Far Cry is WAY beyond that demo in all respects. Just goes to show how talented the Crytek team is, and that they're obviously in it for the long haul. This is the most fun I've had since Half-Life (which also means I think it's the best game to come out in the last six years, with only a couple PC games that are close favorites: Jedi Knight II, and SW:KOTOR.)
I hope we see many sequels to this game...

That's funny. I was just thinking about that demo yesterday. The chrome dino was great.
