http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies...smiley-sad.gif Hi there moderator i have a little "problem".you see when i install far cry and try to run it, my stupid system tells me that one file is missing named MSVCP71.DLL,and then i download that file from http://www.dll-files.com.when i try to install ANY far cry patch system tells me that he cant detect far cry on my system,so i can't play online. Can i just somehow "transwer" that patch files to my system without installing???

Hmm, not heard of this one b4 and don't have a clue what that file is.
Have you tried re-installing?
EDIT: I just did a search for the file on my computer and found it in "C:\WINDOWS\system32"
Try putting the file you downloaded in there, see if that works
But I am a complete nub when it comes to this sort of stuff, so if that dosent work then I'm sure someone else has a better solution http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I've seen this problem once, and it was on a box running Windows 2003 Server 64 bit edition. That's why I asked about your system specs and operating system, to see if there was some commonality there.
The DLL is from Microsoft, reinstalling Far Cry will probably not provide you with the required file if it didn't do it the first time around. This is an OS issue moreso than a game install issue.
A little time on google suggests this DLL shows a number of places where it can be downloaded, including http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/msvcp71/. The interesting thing is that it appears this DLL is part of some add-on products from Microsoft and not part of the core OS. Might be supplied with some service pack, or with some of the optional components you can get through Windows Update. Coops can probably give the gory details on that better than I.
Quickest solution ... download the DLL, put it in your Far Cry/bin32 folder on your rig.

That .dll file appears on my hard drive (like portchyboy says), in the \windows\system32 folder. But I also have copies in 3DMark03, 3DMark05 and PCMark04 folders. Not in the Far Cry folder.
I think your problem may be due to a corrupted registry rather than a missing .dll.
Download Ccleaner and clean the registry. Also try windows installer cleanup utility and uninstall the patches. That may be why you cannot patch the game.

It's the dreaded "I can't play Far Cry curse!" If none of these suggestions work, a complete format and OS reinstall always works for me.

I have reinstalled my operating system more than 4 times in a row.

the patch installer looks for FC in one directory only so dbl check that u didnt change the directory that u installed FC to instead of the default one...maybe..? also try starting FC from the shortcut in the FC folder not from a desktop shortcut? idk
