Russion pilots did, but not french ones! As the "Normandie" (later Normandie Niemen) squadron was crewed only with french pilots, black crosses and sometimes swastikas crosses were used. Littolff was already an ace (during Batlle of France, he had got 12 victories) when he joined Normandie Squadron, in november 1942, he had got his first victory (on easter front) on june 15th, 1943...
