They've already added 3rd person for cut-scenes and campsites, does the decay of the series' FPS roots really need to be taken further?
Why not both? And sell more games.
Why? How then this game will be different from 3rd person games like Ghost Recon or Watch Dogs? I really dislike that cutscenes and camp area are in 3rd person. This greatly breaks immersion for me. I would have preferred that Far Cry stayed completely FPS game.
Far Cry is at the crossroad .....to stay 1st person or transform into 3d person.
Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
What to do?
Switch between is not a good solution.
For the sake of experiment, it wouldn't be bad to develop 3d person Far Cry.
May be, not a big game, but something like "Primal" or "New Dawn".
Test is needed - how it works on this particular game.
I'm expecting the 3rd person cutscenes and camp action will be very popular.
But I don't think it's necessary to go any further.
3d person cutscenes in 1st person game spoils the 1st person immersion - something that happens to you, like in real life.

When someone talks to you.....he or she talks to you.
Looking into your eyes.
Speaking TO YOU.
Eye to eye.
1st person experince in the game organically turns into 1st person experience in the cutscene.
3d person person cutscenes brings dissonance.
But 3d person game, in general, has a clear advantage over 1st person game - Customization.

3d person means additional incentive for customization.
Because now we see how we look all the time.
Which means additional incentive for people to buy something.
Which means more money for Far Cry.
But they already have all the third person animations locked in.. if you look at the NPC.. so really how hard can it be to have both views.
