Out of curiosity, how many of the possible workarounds or fixes have you tried?

Heard people say running the game in DirectX 11 helps but then say it eventually returns back to the prior issues. I really haven't tried any as I don't see it entirely as my responsibility to trouble shoot a game issues. The idea is that developers release games or at least patch games to remove any bugs etc.
I know this isn't really helpful on my behalf, but I've purchased this as a form of entertainment and really don't wont to spend the time trying to fix something when I have taking the time out to just relax and chill.
Although stating this I have run the file verification multiple times. It has fixed corrupted files at times but like i said towards the proposed fixes above, it eventually returns back to freezing/hanging the PC. This makes me assume there is something going arrear in the code, causing the game to eventually crash and therefore possibly introducing further issues in the form of corrupted files (from crashing).
I have also tried repairing EasyCheat as I've heard some state they seem to think the issue lies within this - it did seem to work for some time, but alas returned to freezing again. I've also heard some state the issue(s) seem to coincide with the release of Uplay Connect (over the old Uplay launcher)?
But giving how it freezes, to me, it's hinting at a coding issue somewhere as I've noticed at the time there's high vRAM usage and frame rates essentially drop to nothing or sub 5 FPS. To me it feels like there's a memory leak somewhere, where the game isn't releasing previously drawn vRAM and it just accumulates till its filled and crashes.
Apologies - I'm a bit frustrated with this. Not entirely with Ubisoft, just happens to be one I'm currently having issues with, but with the industry collectively at the moment. There seems to be the culture of lets getting something out to make a quick buck and if there's issues we'll fix latter, if and only if it's not to hard to do so. Otherwise developers just seem to abandon releases deemed 'too hard to fix'. This is also exacerbated knowing the revenue some developers make and the age of some continuing games, you think they fixed the issues considering.
@Sircowdog1 - are there any possible solutions you have heard off, i could try? LIke do you know of any certain background programs/processes which could be causing the issue? I know some games can be very temperamental / sensitive to certain background processes running or a particular combination of background applications/processes. For example Bad Company 2 doesn't like the combination of a OC CPU running with ASUS's Ai Suite
It is helpful to the degree that we've identified a solution for you: switch to playing all your game on console, not PC.
As mentioned before in many, many other posts in this forum, PCs are nightmare platforms for configuration control, with every player's PC being virtually unique. With all the interacting stuff (there are a dozen or more different pieces of software from different developers, most of whom take no particular care to co-operate with each other) and the addition of everything running at some random patch level, it's a wonder that anything works at all. Consoles, having a software stack integrated and supplied by a single vendor, have pretty close to eliminated this issue.
Well, on PC it is. The developers don't and shouldn't update Windows or other software on your system for you, or remove updates that are interacting badly with the game, as just one example. Nor would you want them to. You'd probably be even more upset if they identified programs you'd installed on your system that have been known to interact badly with their game and deleted them.A PC is not a "turn it on and it works" device; that's just the nature of it. Not wanting to handle this maintenance is a perfectly reasonable (and probably common) desire, but since it has to be done on PC the only solution is to hire someone to do it for you for your personal machine or to switch to a different type of device.Quote:

There's a whole raft of quick solutions (ones that can be tried in hardly more than the game start-up time) that work reasonably often, and they have been posted in this forum in various places. I've suggested to Ubi that they collect all these up into an easily accessible list, but that doesn't seem like something they feel is worthwhile to do, and I really don't feel up to spending another half hour or more digging these out again. I do however, three in my personal gaming notes:
I had the game overlay off for a couple of months in the spring, but turned it back on a couple of weeks ago (I needed to use the in-game store) and I've not seen a crash since.Code:### Crashes to Desktop (CTD)
I started getting these, and each of the following fixed it for a while:
- Turn off Ubisoft Connect overlay.
- Install OBS Studio, in the _Sources_ pane add _Game Capture_, in its
Properties clear the "Use anti-cheat compatibililty hook" checkbox,
File » Exit to end OBS Studio.
Suggestions not yet tried:
- Change Easy Anti-Cheat to use one core. Find the process in Task Manager
Details tab or in the Processes tab and right-click, Go to details.
Right-click the `EasyAntiCheat.exe` process, choose "Set Affinity," deselect
`<All Processors>` and select just the highest-numbered core. Does not
require a game restart.
I think it's completely fair to be upset and disappointed with Massive/Ubi for allowing this problem to continue for as long as it has. IMO It's partially a product of how they've very clearly moved most of their developers to work on Avatar and Star Wars, leaving the Division 2 on the back burner.
But to answer your question: Yes, there are some things to try. I have done all of these myself, and at this point the game ia running pretty smoothly. I went from freezing and crashing every 10 minutes to being able to run for hours at a time. I still occasionally get hard freezes, which is annoying. But I can play the game steadily enough to finish a hardcore run from 1 to 30.
I run in Dx12.
Sadly, I don't have enough technical know how to tell which of these is actually helping, but you might try them all one at a time to see if they help.
Hit alt-enter a few times at the character select screen, finishing in full-screen mode before entering the game.
Change graphics downscale to 85%
Increase the pagefile for windows to a very large amount(lots of vids on youtube for how to do this).
Run Ubisoft Connect as administrator.
Turn off Ubisoft Connect and any other in-game overlays you might be running, such as Discord or Twitch or even GeForce Experience if you use an nvidia card.
Find the division 2 exe and turn off full screen optimization under the file options.
Either turn off your antivirus or set Ubisoft Connect, easy-anticheat, and division 2 as trusted.
And of course do all the standard PC troubleshooting stuff: update drivers, windows updates, etc. Maybe even get compressed air and blow all the dust out of your tower.
