You are experiencing a placebo.
I’d have to agree with Franky_1984 here. It is just a matter of time before you’ll experience a freeze/crash again. My sense is the issues are related to Windows 10 cumulative updates and DirectX updates. Verifying the game files typically reinstalls an older and perhaps working version of DirectX on the next game launch from Uplay. Then Windows Update updates these core files on your next weekly check. While likely not the only driver behind the crashes and freezes... it seems to contribute to the problem.
As I’ve mentioned in other threads, it is still hard to believe the team at Ubisoft and Massive haven’t quashed these issues after months of ongoing problems with game stability week after week and maintenance update after maintenance update.
Game was working just fine then I get landed with a 2Gb update. Crashed within 30 seconds of starting play. I'm really getting fed up with this
Update:
Had to verify all my files all over again and allow it to re-install DirectX and VC2015
If you are a rivatuner statistics server (RTSS) user check my posts for solution.
Used this fix and game is stable no issues or crashing.
Having been successful allowing last processor to easycheat now trying to run the game normally it CTDs within 2 minutes. Support on this game is ridiculous. Are there any workarounds/fixes?
Game is crashing to Desktop.
6 crash's to desktop today while trying to run my HC toon.
All of you have nvidia gpu when crashing to desktop or also amd gpu ?
Im starting to suspect potential new root cause as if personally had 1 time i had no crashes to desktop then the next day it crashed again, gonna re fire up game again soon and try reproduce crash to desktop then clear all cache including directx shadercache and so on to see if these crashes still occur after doing so, this would be the 2e game i know of that has issues with shader cache if so.
If anyone wanna test go to disk cleaner and delete shader cache before starting up this game if this fixes it then Nvidia / microsoft has a big problem to solve world of warcraft flickering is also solved this way.
Yesterday i cleared cache for wow cos i had no flickering my game has ran for 23 minutes now, im gonna re fire up game in 60 minutes without crashing without clearing cache first to see if i start crashing to desktop again, if so i will report here again, then clear cache and try playing again for 60 minutes without crashing.
Looks like this crashing issue has been addressed, at least on my PC.
I noticed after the installation of Windows 20H2 Accumulated Update (KB5000842), the game runs much stable. I even don't need to disable the In-game Overlay option in Ubisoft Connect. Although it will crash to the desktop occasionally, it will back to the stable after reboot the PC. I am using the Nvidia driver version 465.89 (without Experience) with default configurations.
