i kept a few field proficiency caches and when a new update showed up i got the new gear in those. So i think it should be the same for exotics.
I mean i got my ninja bike knee pad and some of mine lv 40 exotics in there
I know I have opened somewhere between 10 to 20 lately and get the same old, same old. Nothing new. Though I have heard others claiming they are getting new stuff all the time. The Named Gear Caches have been the same way.
I had saved like 40 over all my chars and i recently opened a few cause i wanted another Memento backpack.
I got one! And a Backfire too. Since i saved em for a long time it seems the content is generated while u open them.
Not 100% sure tho.
Assuming true RNG and no weighting applied: The more exotics or named items you have, the smaller the chance of getting something you don't already have. This is made worse by adding new items to the pool, which dilutes it further. Same with apparel; the more you collect, the less chance you have of getting something you don't already have.
Unless they apply some weighting to new items? (Not sure if they do for exotics) But yeah, most results from Exotic caches go straight to the shredder.
I did notice I got that Belmory Armor named item from a named cache BEFORE I got the item from the Season Pass track, thought the new stuff wasn't added to the pool until after you got it from the track?
I can attest that you can get exotics you do not have from them. I have gotten both the chameleon and the Lady Death from them, both of which I had never gotten through regular game play. Hoping for a Ninja Kneepad set from them.
The next time you matchmake into someone else's session, go look at their exotic walls. You might be surprised at how many people don't have all the exotics.
And that doesn't send up red flags? By this point in the game except for the very latest items....... Players should have most of the items. They may not be perfect, but they should have gotten most of them.
My question is are the Exotic and Named Caches weighted by items you already have? For me personally, I haven't gotten a "new" item from either.
I got a Bullet King and a Pestilence from exotic caches for completing the SHD weekly project without previously acquiring them.
Um, my point is that exotic caches aren't just for people with 1000 hours in the game. Plus, they're still useful for people who are fully engaged with the game - for example: https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthrea...ded-my-Memento
Broken nailed it here. If you recall, shortly after the Bighorn was released, they had an update which, in part, significantly reduced the probability that 'reconfiguring'/rerolling an exotic would result in a god roll. It was approximately a factor of six. So where it would originally take an average of five rerolls to get your god roll, it now takes an average of thirty. Hypothetically, if you have one character with ten exotics, that projects three hundred exotics components required. Similarly, if you have four characters, each with ten exotics, that projects twelve hundred exotic components required.
Regardless of individual determinations of opportunity cost, that's the practical math under the current weighted tables.
The Chameleon and Acosta's are to D2 what the Caduceus was to D1.
BTW, subsequent to 11.1, anyone who rolls with the Chameleon is advised to run comparisons with the currently dropping ones. I suspect they increased the base damage without having the change apply retroactively. I noticed a discrepancy wherein a new Chameleon with +7% DMG and maxed out second and third attributes had higher damage than a pre-11.1 one in my backpack that had +9% DMG and maxed out second and third attributes. I then identified the increase in base damage.
I have recently recieved the new Scorpio shotgun and the new Capacitor AR from exotic caches after getting them in game - season reward track for Scorpio and the Summit for Capacitor.
I got pestilence, sweet dreams, diamondback, lady death, mantis and chameleon all of which I didn't have previously from exotic caches. Also got sawyers kneepads, BTSU gloves and Ninja Bike kneepads which I didn't have either. So you can definately get stuff you don't have.
Today I got a backfire SMG, never seen one before.
Yesterday I did the 30 levels of the Summit and opened the exotic cache to get another pair of BTSU Data Gloves. So this morning I was in New York and tried another weekly exotic cache, not expecting anything great and thinking it's probably going to be something I have too many of, to my surprise it contained the Bullet King I have been lusting over. :D :D :D
When I find out new exotics are coming, I save them up for about a month on all 4 characters, unlock the new exotics when the update or season comes, THEN open all the exotic caches. Generally I can stock all 4 characters with the new exotics in the 60-80 exotic caches I have saved. No need to farm them.
I'd like to know how it's random when I get the exact same bloody item every time, namely ninjabike kneepads. I haven't used them once.
If you have them all they're only useful for exotic material when recalibrating, trying to get all god rolled exotics.
If you have four characters, quite a few are needed to get all god rolled...
With that said I would rather have optimization caches over exotic ones, would be great if we could choose.
I took a break before warlords dropped and only just got the expansion in the sales.
Exotic caches for me have produced more that I didn't previously own than they have doubles and due to my hiatus the doubles were level 40 so saved on upgrade costs. I have had a run on acosta's pack but those were all from random drops.
Not really worth it to be honest, I have saved enough exotic caches and wanted to get something new and all the exotic caches I only keep getting Bullet king, Chatter Box, Chameleon, diamond back and sweet dreams and nothing else. It would be nice if they can rework the exotic caches instead of getting the same item all over again, let us say you got one of the exotics for example and you opened another one and ends up as a duplicate which should be converted to resources, parts and credits that can be useful you know same as the textile credits.
I got an exotic cache from doing the 30 floors on the Summit today, and wanted a Memento, so I went to Judiciary Square safe house as it had back packs as targeted loot, and what do you know I got the Memento.
Ya that doesnt always work... i tried that myself and been lucky sometimes but its not 100% ...
I used 30 exotic components the other day I had 20 and broke down 10 more items and its nothing more than a big slot machine that rarely pays out - best to try to get them as close as possible on stats and then optimize them The odds of a God roll are probably 100/1 or more.
Yes, I almost have my entire 20 slots of cache filled with exotic caches. That is my goal. Seriously.
I look at it as being the same as star wars figures that are kept in the original box and unopened. LOL.
No cap, this is real. I wish the system was smart enough to recognize you already obtain certain exotics and avoid opening the same one over and over again. So I have legit 10 Chameleon for the same reason. How I kill Coyote at JTC and receive another Chameleon? Yeah its bad, really bad. I also didn't get an exotic cache when I completed my first legendary mission DUA to get the Bighorn. Yeah this random and repetitive algorithm is way off.
Just like clockwork, defeated Beetle named enemy in a bounty and receive just guess a freaking Chameleon. Just like DJ Khaled would say, Another One smh
I have 20 exotic caches and wanted another Memento for my other character, thought I would have a good chance to get one with all those. So I tested my idea of opening them where the targeted loot is, went to the Summit and selected back packs, opened the first one and got a Chatterbox which I have had over a dozen of.
The next one I opened contained, ta-da the Memento I was after. Didn't have great specs, 11.7% damage and 124,425 armor so I took it to the crafting bench and re-calibrated it, got 14.6% weapon damage and 164,875 armor, good enough I say! Still have 18 exotic caches left.
I would like to confirm that you can get the exotics you never had from those caches. I got the mantis sniper and backfire smg from the exotic caches which i didn't had before
