The BIGGEST problem with For Honor
PC vs Console
The differences between the two make it impossible to properly balance the game.
Light spam, an issue on console, is NOT an issue on PC. Believe me. I own For Honor on both PC and Xbox One.
Making light spam weaker would effectively make all light attacks pointless on PC because they are already not that hard to parry. Making light spam better effectively makes them terribly powerful on console due to unreactability and effectiveness of spamming.
Defense is so much stronger on PC than Console, and offense is so much stronger on Console than PC.
The problem is Framerates combined with Input Lag.
Higher framerates and almost zero input lag on PC makes defending far easier, thus making offense far weaker as well. You see more, and you can react at the absolute last second to attacks.
Lower framerates plus a decent input lag on Console makes defending far more difficult, and as a result, you guessed it, makes attacking far stronger. You see less, and you must respond a noticeable amount before things actually hit you. If you respond the instant before, you will still get hit because the game takes a moment to recognize your inputs, and by the time it does, you've already eaten hits.
These issues cause an incredible amount of strife between players here in the forums and elsewhere on the internet because issues that PC players encounter are not the same issues as the ones that Console players encounter.
Turtling is still an issue on PC, while spamming is still an issue on Console. Fixing these issues on one platform effectively makes them worse on the other.
On PC, I find it TOO difficult to land strikes, while on Console, I find it too easy.
Next Gen consoles have the potential to bridge these issues and properly balance the game.
This is because they are supposed to have similar input lag as PC and they have higher framerates than current consoles, but they will have uniform framerates capped at 60fps. PC should be capping for honor at 60fps as well, and that way we could see crossplay between next gen consoles and PC since they will be (for the most part) on equal ground.
It would also be far easier to fix light spam issues and turtle meta issues simultaneously with both PC and Console experiencing the same issues.
As it stands now, the devs seem to be trying to keep everyone happy, but as I said, fixing an issue on PC makes issues worse on Console, and fixing an issue on Console makes issues worse on PC.
It's quite literally impossible to balance the game properly with the differences between platforms.
