So when doing the same mission with the same conditions and the only changing factor is the group it's not hard to pin point why things seem more easier or difficult and it's not the NPCs who magically became stronger or intelligent.
Additionally, I learn not only from my own failures but learn to adapt to randoms. Call me sadistic or whatever but I do missions with randoms where they struggle and help them when I can and IF they are willing to read group chat. I did the same thing in Division 1's Clear Sky Heroic. There was a time in this game where all I would was matchmake for Roosevelt challenging because 8/10 times I knew I would join a group at the end phase.
Now my motivation may have been for easy XP but I also did learn where mistakes were being made and how randoms played. It got to a point where I felt the randoms I matchmaked with either watched some video or were just skilled players as the end phase of Roosevelt went like clockwork. Also note this was before the nerf where I loved playing Roosevelt over and over again.
However since 1.7 with the crashes, long load times (which was only fixed yesterday), seeing how easy Challenging has become and forthcoming PTS changes I have no motivation to play the game. Many people feel the same way, so I stick by what I said.
Edit - It is however possible for Ubisoft to have buffed NPC's without telling anyone. If they have I'll definitely load the game just to test that theory out.
