What's an automatic dislike for you?
I only play Solo maps but I like all four types, but there are some things that map-makers do that just grind my gears. These will 100% of the time get a 'dislike' from me.
1. Anything but a clear view - no rain drops, no vignettes no nothing! I want to see what the hell I'm looking at.
2. Random Zombies just dropped into an otherwise absorbing level. Seems to be the goto cliche at the moment. And as for hoards of them without proper firepower to deal with them, well, they can just go shove their dumb level with its stark lack of creativity and high, high cheese count!
3. The whole level is so dark you can't see anything. What the hell is the point? That cliche point was passed long, long ago. It's not big, and it's not clever. Don't do it!
4. Switchback magic beam-in. Once or twice maybe, if you must beam in someone behind me, but don't keep doing backwards and forwards. These maps are supposed to be fun, not tiresome or annoying.
5. Take the trouble to either change or drop the 'Stealth' load-out if you're not going to actually provide proper stealth weapons. The number of levels I've skipped because the maker is too lazy, or inept, to do it properly. I know there are apparently plenty of folks out there who like nothing more than chaotic, mindless run 'n' gun but not me. It's strictly sneak and snipe, otherwise I just 'aint gonna play it.
6. Go easy on the 'out of bounds'. It's so annoying when you want to scout about quietly only to have the game keep telling you to go down some stupid narrow path.
I'm sure there's more, but this is enough to be going on with.
So what things do you hate in a map?
