I know this has probably been covered to death. But I've upgrade my system and can't get the game to run on Vista 64 bit. I get the splash screen, the resolution chnages, and then nothing. I've tried the recommended installation techniques (user account off, installed in its own folder, etc). I think I may be doomed to wait for BoB (which may or may not come this century). Anyone know of a installation techniqe that actually works for Vista 64-bit? (And no, I'm not buying 1946.)

Man, it's been awhile, hasn't it? Kids, work, fishing. It takes up a lot of time. I'm missing simming and I'd like to get this stoopid game working.

Go to the store and pick up a copy of IL-2: 1946. Evrything's been bunldled onto one DVD, and there's a 4.09b patch available that adds excellent new default textures for eastern front aircraft (109s, 190s, Yaks, LaGGs, IL-2s, etc.). The patch also makes clear-weather daytime visibility up to about 80kms. This should run OK even on Vista 64, but I'm still on XP (gladly) so I'm not entirely sure.
There is also that "other" issue that has recently arisen. You know, that bad M-word, and the website whoes mention here is punishable by death... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif
EDIT: Oops, just saw the "I'm not buying 1946" part. Sorry. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

It is rather simple, if you follow the instructions on that thread:
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...5/m/1921070116
Please run IL2 as admin, and in the properties/compatibility tab, please make sure it is run with XP sp2 compatibility mode.

These instructions may work for 1946, but don't do a thing for me with FB+AE+PF. It's not the securerom thing because you get the splash screen and a resolution change. I'm in the same boat as you, skychimp.
