Well she is a zombie
Considering that the bow no longer 1-shots basic enemies, I'd say Jess is a godsend companion. She's perfect for stealth gameplay, since your standard followers like to melee enemies when undetected.
Yeah, ya mean like how she out of the blue sometimes hops in a heli instead of being content to follow along on foot when you're trying to do a stealth takeover on an outpost? Or the way even when you're crouched she yells and runs at an animal you command her to shoot, scaring it away in the process?
I used to think Jess and Grace were great stealth companions, but the truth is, the only way you can be sure of maintaining stealth is to go alone and shoot from a distance with a silenced sniper rifle, or lure enemies into bushes one at a time with rocks.
Jess is a rebel, and Grace is hung up on her war stories. Grace keeps talking about her preferred strong trigger pull, even though she knows Jess thinks guns are for pussies. That combo is by far the worst for repeat dialog, which they constantly stop halfway through, then repeat again. The people who wrote the dialog in this game were very hit and miss at it. There's some funny stuff, but also way too much repeat stuff.
I'm going with Jess is too rebellious and unpredictable on this one.
Her damage output feels just right to me, given her weapon and skill.
but it feel just too unrealistic sometimes. I'm there, hiding behind a van an trying to aim for headshots with my pistol....on my left jess which is a continuous 100% hit on target and almost 100% headshot-thus-onehitkill. And it's same story for both long range and short range targets. I think she should be less fail-proof.
So basically your just envious of Jess' skills. It's ok to run and hide while your girl companion does all the killing for you... :p

Her as well as any GFH you get I felt were mostly useless as they would run in front of the enemy and stand there for several seconds while being shot before returning fire. Or you would tell them to attack something and they would run a complete different direction or if they did go for the target would take forever to silently kill that target meaning they would inevitably wander to an area the other enemies could see their corpses. Or if you were trying to di di from an encounter they would stay long enough to get shot and downed meaning you had to rescue them and further endanger your own life. Or you would die and they would die trying to come revive you meaning you had to restart anyway. I thought the ones that revived themselves would be useful in that situation but if you are down they just die when they go down and you are forced to restart.
LOL, I had Boomer and Jess as squad, then was taking the Outposts for Cheesburger and stealthing around the outside on the mountain...I had used binoculars to scope out the enemies and took out one alarm to start taking the base. I hear Jess yelling out, and realize she is shooting at them from the mountain side, 100yrds away maybe killing some, but definitely getting their attention, so I work my way down the mountain sneak into the tunnel that goes into one of the pits from the front. Jess is above me and I am trying to see where all the enemies are in relation to me......and BOTH Jess and Boomer run into the base ABOVE me attracting all kinds of enemies to them. Boomer dies, Jess is yelling, killing and saying she is taking hits...so I sneak BACK out the tunnel, and see a guy almost on top of Jess, so I kill him...my first kill of the outpost....move to the side near front drive kill second guy there....and get the base as taken UNDETECTED.....yup, killed 2 guys and got the base....Jess and Boomer killed rest "loudly" and it was considered undetected....
I am thinking of going solo...or just using Peaches...
