Question regarding AI Detection
My brother and I have been playing co-op on PC and have noticed some weird happenings when it comes to being detected by the AI.
There have been numerous instances where we are trying to stealthily take out an encampment. We'll take opposite ends of the village for best vantage points, use our binoculars to spot everyone we can. And then things like these will happen:
- The enemy AI will take off screaming and running through the village, music will queue up and sometimes they'll even sound the alarm for reinforcements, when we haven't even moved or killed anyone yet. They don't run towards us, just towards different parts of the village.
- We will randomly see 1 AI off on his own, so using a silenced weapon we'll take him out, he'll fall silently into the brush. Then out of no where, 1 random AI from the other side of the village will scream and haul butt over to where the person was and alert the entire countryside. Even though there was no way they had line of sight on the body, much less close enough to see them vanish.
- We will sneak into the outskirts of a village, silent-takedown someone from behind, carry their body out of the village and re-take our position as lookout. Then the music will fire up and they'll go screaming around the village as if we dropped into the middle of town.
- We have even seen instances where the AI will lose their ever-loving minds if a different AI drives past the village. They'll have a small gunfight, and even sound the alarm. But if we engage and finish without being seen, we still don't get an "undetected" completion.
In all of the above scenarios, neither of us ever saw the white detection bar appear on the screen, much less had it filled enough that they knew where we were to come after us. We both have all the perks for stealthy movements too.
We've successfully completed 1 village that we got credit for "undetected", when the majority of the time, it's issue like above, where the AI seem to know 1 random guy off in the distance immediately disappeared from his route and that it had to be us to alert the village.
We've played through the co-op on FarCry4 more than once, so we fully know how to take out an encampment without being detected at all. But in FC5, they seem to immediately know something is up when they realistically shouldn't even know we were there yet.
Anyone else see things like this?
