Aircraft controls
Hello, this is my first post on the forums because I usually never need to but there is something that has really been bugging me. Does anyone else find the flight controls at least on console to be horrendous? I mean first of all there's a flight assist which should be optional, pitch, yaw and roll are all binded to LS unless you change it to LB and RB which isn't any better. What I'm trying to say is that the planes lack player control and it holds back their potential making them almost unplayable unless you just drop bombs. They really should model their plane controls after games like ace combat, battlefield or even gta. It's really unbearable. Do you find this to be an issue worth addressing because it really should only take one person to change it.
Sorry if it needs to be tagged or something. Again this is my first time and I'm doing this on the fly so my apologies.

Many have complained. But the helo works ok. As does the wingsuit.
I do no planes in FC5.

I use the invert option on planes and wingsuit gives you better control well for me anyway give that a go it be in the options menu

As already said, I just set controls to invert (at least on the vertical Y axis) as should be the default really, and find it plays just fine once you get used to it, like anything. The Clutch Nixon challenges where you have to fly a plane and use the wingsuit were easy.
Speaking of invert vs non-invert, I guess I grew up on old flight sims where pulling back makes the plane go up, just as in real life. Also in real life, for me to look UP I tilt my head BACK. Something you get used to obviously and it becomes second nature either way.

I'm not keen on aircraft controls in general for this game, but unlike most I prefer the planes. I hate the way I have to press L1 in choppers for free-look, as I do a lot of this.
Why they didn't just put tilt, pitch and roll on the left thumb for choppers stick I'll never know.

I've mentioned this elsewhere. The controls for planes could do with some work. For my money, pitch and roll should be on the stick, and yaw should be on the lb/rb. The combination control set is ...... clumsy. Having roll on the lb/rb also feals unnatural. Left or right on the stick should roll straight away. As it stands, the delay isnt great. I understand why it is the way it is, but a new option would be nice.

@fullypr3load3ed,
You're not alone in thinking the controls and even the physics of the aircraft in this game are wonky (to say the least) They really need a third option for each (helos and planes) that provide a "standard" layout.
For example (for planes), the yoke (aileron and elevator control) should be tied to the left stick. The right stick could still be assigned to free look while the rudder is mapped to the bumpers. As it is now, you either have a choice for a aileron/rudder/elevator combo on the left stick (which is awkward) or rudder/elevator on the left stick while the ailerons are relegated to the bumpers which makes absolutely no sense.
...then there are the helo controls which in themselves are not necessarily all bad but the physics are absolutely horrible and flight characterics are all wrong. Basically, helos react and are controlled just like drones. The mapping is fine except for the up/down on the right stick that changes the angle of attack of the fuselage. ....all without any forward or backward movement which lacks any semblance of how real helos fly.
This has nothing to do with making FC5 a flight simulator as other less serious game titles even know how to get this right in a simplistic format. It's about giving the player an intuitive interface that resembles basic aircraft controls and provides some immersion or sense of actual flight.

Same here. I could never get the hang of flying the planes. Strictly Helos for me!
