This is a very nice explanation of the different map types and their basic requirements but there's a lot more one needs to know that isn't covered (tools to shape terrain, place objects, environmental effects, etc.). Some of it is intuitive, much can be learned by just messing around, but if you really get into map making, I would suggest joining a community of enthusiasts. Feedback and help from others is invaluable. One example: the Far Cry Map Editors group on FaceBook.
Already there are some great tutorial video's to be found on You Tube when you search under Far Cry 5 leveleditor tutorials or something simular.
But, they all cover the basics only. I know, the game is only a few days out yet so its the beginning. But already i want much more in depth tutorials,
not just the ones on how to make terrain etc. Because that we already could learn from tutorials from Fa Cry mapping 3 and 4.
But as i said, the game is only 3 days ago released, so there is time.
By the way, LOVE the game, and, LOVE the editor!

Ok, so I have checked this out several times, and all I see is the beginning of the guide which asks which platform, and then a page that illustrates an introduction...but there is no next button for the rest of the content in the map editor? I shouldn't feel this frustrated with this game so quickly..but between this and the 6 player minimum on the multiplayer maps, all my enthusiasm is gone for this game!!!
Just a quick thing I noticed. All the links don't work from within the PC editor, they link to the main website. I think it would be helpful to link to this guide link instead (from PC editor > Help > USER MANUAL (WEBSITE).
I tried looking at this a couple days into making my first FC5 map. Clicked the link for it on my PS4 and when it took me to the site, the format it was in made it completely unreadable. Has that been fixed?
Sorry wrong thread. deleted.
In the meantime for newcomers, check out Ubisoft's Far Cry 4 Map Editor tutorial. Same principles still apply:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwGsqDkS1tg
I've seen more detailed blog posts on the FC5 editor than this.
Why can't I upload maps which pass validation? The MAIN issue people are having is "upload failed" I have half my maps which won't upload yet I find others with equally complex terrain which do. No feedback from UbiSoft and no fix.
I'm fine with there being restrictions, just tell us what they are!
I have it for the PS4 and I was wondering on how to update the map I have published with a newer version.
As long as it has the same name when you upload, It'll replace the original with a v2.
Can some one please help me about map updating? How to do it? Should i request for map to be deleted first? I need to make changes on the map i published and dont know how to proceed :(
Did that but didnt work. Now i have 2 same maps with same snapshot.
Weird, did you change your initial type of game (outpost, bounty, journey, mp...) to another ?
I did not do that. I requested map deletation 36h ago but they still did not delete it.
On the last Developer's livestream, there's a brief introduction to the Map Editor: https://youtu.be/Y-257IpYvYI?t=2335

I don't know, how much "in-depth" the guide is supposed to be, but the link just leads to the New Dawn title page.Quote:
The official manual seems to be gone, but this Steam page has most of the info:

Btw, you're replying to posts almost 2 years old
I know, though I thought that since this thread was made by the Community Manager, maybe this account is still active. Apparently not. Too bad that Ubisoft is unable to do such a basic thing as keeping an old webpage that's rather important for new people to get in the game. (Though I actually tried to do some maps more than a year ago but then got distracted and now decided to return only to find out that tutorial's gone).
Btw, your link is broken. The correct one is https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...?id=1489359574
Thanks anyway.
Yeah, it's so unfortunate that some game related content is at one point dismissed in favor of promoting new titles. The Far Cry 4 community maps site is gone, the Far Cry 5 editor manual is gone, not to mention the fact that EasyAntiCheat was silently removed from the PC version of the game & the autosave stutter bug is still a nag on PC.
And if we're taking into account the limited availability of the Live events and their associated rewards, it becomes apparent that the games are intended to be experienced right at release time, with the experience only diminishing afterwards. Support for the game isn't just dropped, the whole experience is getting crippled in favor of pushing new titles.
IMO this is an issue that greatly diminishes the value of Ubisoft's products.
I don't get it either. I mean, the content and tech was already produced and functional online, IMO it should be policy to keep it published, on a dedicated game page. Like, hook it up to The Far Cry 5 Game Page , even having it as a PDF would have been fine.
It is 2021 and the map editor manual link (still) doesn't work (some redirect to FC5, others redirect to FC5 New Dawn).
I have just had a chat session with a support agent called "Ubi-Plaza" and they said they'd raised a ticket to fix it. When asked for an ETA, they said "as soon as possible".
Fingers crossed.
In the meantime, I will be checking the Steam page linked here, thank you.
