I'm disappointed with the Highlander Update
I was so excited for the buffs, then I realized they weren't fixing his biggest issue. They just tried to cover it up, and that issue is his speed. He is one of the slowest characters, if not the slowest in game while running. This makes it difficult to chase down people as they know that I cannot catch them (Bots know this too, which makes me think that it is definitely an issue).
Highlander is so easily parried and blocked because he is slow and predictable. I know that now you can cancel the top celtic curse but when I go up for it usually people back off at the right time or jump in for an attack before I can even finish spinning right or left. So trying to cancel into something is very difficult to do when playing against an aggressive player.
His other big flaw in my opinion is that he can be guard-broken in the middle of a celtic curse. Why is that a mechanic in this game, because whenever I try to GB another character that is starting an animation, it just pushes me back like we both did a GB at the same time and then I get hit from the attack. I've also been GB a couple of times while connecting on a celtic curse and the damage doesn't go through because of it. I am looking at my blade in the opponents body and they GB me.
I think it would have been better if they tweaked his damage a bit, not as much as they did and gave him more movement speed and buffed his attack speed. My main problem now is making blocks. Highlander is so slow that I cannot shift from side to side to make blocks against characters that chain fast.
I am frustrated to say that in my opinion they did nothing to make the Highlander better, and that I do not have fun playing him anymore. Ubisoft has ruined my experience playing this game like so many others. The reworks for the other characters were amazing, and then there is Highlander.. where I don't even make an impact anymore in games. I played on Ps4 for 6 months and had a great time once I got the feel of him, another month on PC now, and the new Highlander just doesn't feel right to me.
