Centurion mix-ups explained
As the title may suggest, I'd like to shed some light upon Centurion's mix-ups to help players without access to the new heroes.
Mix-ups he can do from neutral:
- heavy / charged heavy mix-up: this is the most simple mix-up Cent can do. However, you can just block either of those and still dodge the follow-up jab.
- charged heavy into GB soft-feint. Cent can soft-feint his charged heavy into GB. It's like a normal feint into GB but faster. Again, you can just block and dodge the jab.
- he can obviously mix-up his heavies and lights but all heroes can do that and it's not a problem if you don't go for parries all the time.
Mix-ups he can do after GB (if there's no wall around, otherwise he'll go for his wombo combo):
- heavy (guaranteed after GB) into charged heavy cancel into GB
- heavy into another fast heavy
- heavy into heavy unblockable
Now, here's where things get tricky. The unblockable indicator does not appear as soon as he charges the heavy, it's a normal red indicator at first. Depending on your response, he might hit you with the unblockable and another confirmed heavy or he'll interrupt your parry attempt with his cancel into GB.
How to deal with this? Simple: Just block. Only dodge or parry until you know it's the unblockable heavy which is slow af and easily dodged.
Mix-ups after hitting a kick:
- charged heavy cancel into GB
- light into light or GB
He does not get a guaranteed heavy after kick. You can block it. At least on PC.
Centurion does have lots of mix-ups and they can be quite brutal but that's exactly how he is supposed to be. If you are turtling and just fishing for parries you'll get rekt because you never know what he might do. That doesn't mean you can't be defensive vs Centurion. All of his mix-ups are reactable and can be punished.
