Balance has been achieved.
Overall, my thoughts with 1.6 are very impressed. The Dark Zone feels fun; I can hold my own against rogues using the gear that I want to use and not whatever everyone else is using. And overall my friend and I only encountered one rogue during the hour we spent in the upper DZ, and he ran off after seeing that there were two of us. The new landmarks are very cool, though I will say it's too hard to find the HVT during the DZ sweeps. As well, what exactly is the point in putting purple (Superior) cases in the new DZ? Why not just make everything gold or green or red? Is there any point to picking up low end gear?
Last Stand feels very balanced in my opinion. I am a PvE player, and I am terrible at direct PvP engagements in this game (mainly because they are focused around awkward movement exploits and button mashing that kills my wrists). So I was greatly pleased to find that I could help my team just as much by farming landmarks and using the resources to focus on acquiring tactical upgrades. Or I'll just focus on the enemy base since no one ever seems to play defense. I greatly enjoy how it encourages teams to stick together. I'm not sure everyone has figured that out yet, and a lot of the time teammates will repeatedly spawn and run into the enemy objective and die without waiting for any backup. Running together on an objective with a communicating team, however, feels very fun and tactical.
Legendary mode is great. I love the fact that it brings back the 1.3 challenge without the 1.3 time-to-kill that many people disliked. All of the gear set and weapon specializations really shine in this mode, and it feels like I'll be able to use a variety of different gearsets/tactics. My friend and I got halfway through Warrengate before he had to get ready for work, but the first time through definitely required us to slowly move in a tactical manner, since we had no idea where the shotgunners were coming from in the new setup. I'm sure once we get the hang of it we won't need to be so methodical, but the challenge is still great. Honestly, it'd be great if you could add Legendary to every mission, or possibly even make a Legendary world tier. I personally feel that it greatly refreshes the challenge of acquiring gear.
The Premium vendor gets a no from me. Sorry, I'm not going to pay real money for goofy hats and paints. Balaclavas or face masks? . More helmets/ helmet camos? possibly. But right now, I see no difference between what's being sold and what I already have acquired for my character.
I haven't fully explored all the gearsets, though I did switch from D3 to Reclaimer and have to say that it's a solid GS for both indirect PvP and a necessity for high level incursions/ legendary missions. All in all, I feel I've eaten many of my words from before. The game is balanced now, so now should be the time to focus purely on new content.
