How to determine KTM event overall percentage
There was a bit of confusion among some players on leg one thinking their event rank should be higher based on their individual track ranks. As many know, this is inaccurate and just doesn't work.
You still can calculate your overall percentage and get a good idea of what you need to do to get to the next prize level.
From the main map screen you need to tap the small KTM logo/button on the lower right hand of the screen. This will take you to the KTM leaderboard. First, you need your ranking number (not your point total). Take this number and add two zeros to the end of it (if your rank is 2500 then use 250,000). In the upper right corner of the ranking screen you will see a "total players" number (currently 54876 on iOS). Divide your rank with the two zeros added by the total player and you have your ranking percentage.
250,000/54876 = 4.55 or 4.55%
Remember that being in the top 5% means having a number lower than 5. If you are at 5.2 that means you are actually in the top 6%
Now that you know where you are you can look at where you need to be. If you are outside of the top 5% and want to be inside you can find out how many points you need to get there.
Again, using 54876 total players as the example. Take the percentage you hope to achieve (using 5% as the target) and divide that number by 100 then multiple by the total players. So 5/100 = .05
.05 x 54876 = 2743.8
2743.8 is the rank you need to hit the top 5%. Now take note of how many points you have on the KTM rank screen then scroll up to rank 2743 and see how many points that player has. If you want to be in the top 5%, you need that many points (and probably a few more to make sure you stay there).
Obviously this is simple math for some folks but some aren't as good with math and determining percentages is simple if you know what numbers to plug in which spots.
Anyhow, I was top 7% last night before I started doing math instead of playing. When I was done doing math I had a target rank and plan of attack on which tracks could get me there. Today I'm in the top 4%.
