Nimrod is an album by Green Day, isn't it?
"Time grabs you by the hand" - "Good Riddance (Time of your Life)" is on that album and fits the picture pretty well.
The names of the other songs on the Nimrod album don't sound too familiar to me, so in case we are correct here, I would expect some sort of mixed song pack.
Green Day could also fit with the "Christmas sneer" hint.
