Try getting the latest patches. Not sure if it will work but it's worth a try.
Moving your game files' location won't be any help so no need to spend all that time moving the files.

Trying to install patch- say "impossible to recover version number#
Win 7
C'mon i was super excited to play it!
you got anything?
EDIT:
Necrobomber, "impossible to recover version number" :(
same here i downloaded today same problema i cant play, cant launch !
Same problem, I launch the game, shows me the FC3 logo and it takes me back to Uplay.
I also tried the compatability mode, reinstalling, and that patch and no luck. I'm also getting the "impossible to recover version number" error. :(
What's the point in giving away a broken game?
I was so excited to play it...
If it is of any help:
I'm on windows 7 32 bit.
AMD phenom II 955 4x 3.2 ghz
4 gb Ram.
well we dont have a choice, we need to wait for ubisoft, the problem is from uplay i think, maybe the servers are full.
Apparently the d/l will install the patches, but not update the displayed release number - it remains as 1.00.
If you can at least fire up the game, look at the settings and see if the "reset garrisons" option is displayed. If so, that was added with patch 1.02.
If you attempt to update game with the patches and the game's already patched, that might be the reason for the message regarding "version number".
It can't hurt to contact the support center directly and submit a request for help if you can't even get the game to fire up.

The same problem. After the sync with cloud... nothing. I do the check for the game files.
Ubisoft, can you give us the XIII(http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-2/xiii)? It's a classic and very good game.
So from what I managed to dig up, we need to own Far Cry 3 as well as Blood Dragon, since it uses the same basis. Maybe some people own both and it seems to mess up still, so I am not sure.
