Halting new content til bugs are fixed is probably the right way to do it
So I burnt through 1.3 in a matter of weeks. The combination of different life events meant I had plenty of time to game in July and I was almost as decked as you can be by the 20th of July or so in all the gear sets I wanted (and a few extra to boot). Sure I didn't have the perfect build and would've liked to get some more upgrades, but such is life and the RNG didn't favour me in my DZ forays.
Took a moderate break and started gaming again last week, leveled a new toon, got her to do some UG in a different build, been having fun again. I yearn for new content, hopefully more fleshed out content (WOW raid-style in terms of instances with multiple bosses of increasing difficulty would be ace in my book), and that's not changed, even though I'm having more fun in the UG than before.
However, this last week of gaming has highlighted to me the still prevalent bug state in this game. Mike and Delta errors are abound, skills freeze rather frequently (in a 4 horsemen farrm it's going to happen at least once every three runs on at least a player), the new bug (at least for me) of having your emotes flash up and not being able to do anything about it, not being able to see your group in the UG, skill delay ... There's quite a bit of stuff here that needs to be fixed.
I LIKE the game, otherwise I wouldn't boot it up rather frequently, but these things need to be fixed. The game is only 5 months old, but it's been in development for years before that, so these things should've been fixed ages ago IMO.
So yeah, I really want new content, but I also think fixing most of these is something that should've been done by 1.1 at the latest and here's hoping we'll get a fix for these sooner rather than later. October is 5 weeks away, so not inmensely far away, or 9 weeks away if you deploy in the last weekend of October which is when, I suspect, they expect to release this 1.4 patch.
These are not game breaking for me, not even combined, but they cut the enjoyment and, at times, my gaming session short too.
I do, however, hope, they take this rather lengthy delay of Survival (From Summer to almost Winter by the looks of it) to add extra content to Survival. Yeah, we get it that these fixes take time, however, the people working on the fixes are not the whole Massive team, so throw us a bone here and use this time to get more content out of the gate. The DZ needs to get enlarged, for instance. Massive has stated they ain't going to enlarge it in the short-term, but that's bonkers if you ask me. It's still the most talked about area of the game (played 28% of gaming time so probably the most played in the game too), and if you're going to do something about it, get DZ 7-10 out too, for instance.
