My thoughts so far
Dear Ubisoft/ Massive and my fellow SHD Agents
I have played online games for over 15 years and have played a wide selection of online games.
Diablo II, WoW, SWG, CS-CS:GO, BF1942-BF3, WoT, DC:U, DayZ, ESO, AW and of course The Division.
This game is brilliant overall, I cannot deny the good and bad points of this game at this time, and there are errors on both side of the game in regards to the Publisher/Developers and the community.
People are angry because they want this game to be epic on every level and the fact that the difference to what was advertised and what was delivered, the promises and failure of those promises has sparked an uproar. So it should and be expected.
I have read a lot of posts from players and I have played the game a lot since Beta. I like many people enjoy this game and want it to grow and succeed, not for it to become another lost title to cheaters and lack of support.
Ubisoft, you have a golden opportunity to make this game a real competitor in the online gaming society, you still have that chance if you really want to take it. It’s already your bestselling game in damn history!
If I may speak for the players, were fed up of publishers controlling developers and making them shape games into a simple money making scheme. Were fed up of the lack of player security and fair play by zero anti-cheat support and seemingly a lack of zero tolerance to cheaters/ Exploiters. Were tired of poorly coded games that expose players to game breaking glitches and exploitable features that the game was rushed to be developed because the publisher demanded a release date.
It just seems the gaming world is becoming poorer and poorer in its quality with the exception of a very few games that are overall stable and playable.
Cheaters: Perma-Ban. Simple. With proven evidence from players or when you do install some kind of protection, if it’s detected, ban for good.
Exploiters: We all find glitches in games at some point, the rightful thing to do is report it and carry on with the game as it was meant to played. Why is it people feel the right to take advantage of an in game error, knowing full well that bug or glitch was not mean to be there in the first place, like walking through walls, climbing invisible ladders etc. People have even posted YouTube videos defending this behaviour, “it’s what were delivered so we shall play it as delivered” garbage. Really? That’s a good enough reason to break all the immersion, break all the games rules just so you can get ahead of someone who plays fairly? Glitches can be funny and frustrating depending on what they are, but the immaturity of those players who purposely take advantage of this is just beyond me and proves how sad some people really are to cheat in a computer game.
It’s like running a marathon and noticing a short cut as one of the barriers has fallen over and then taking that route, then feeling proud to complete the race and gaining some places, really? “It’s not my fault the barrier was on the floor, I just raced the race they gave me”, what utter nonsense.
Were all adults here and we all have a brain, although it sometimes feels like some don’t know how to use it.
I would just take all the exploited gear off of them, no bans, just strip them of their exploited gear and tell them to play game correctly as common sense and the intention from Massive dictated to you.
I find that some of the community are toxic, immature and rude individuals that don’t deserve anything than a slap from their parents who clearly failed to discipline them.
Everyone on PC more so who plays this game are suffering the same amounts of pain and we all want this game to get better, but acting like toxic children is not getting anyone anywhere. Maybe Ubisofts Rep is bad from the last few releases and yes we do have the right to complain and voice our concerns, but threatening law suits? Spewing out abuse, attacking each other for what? That’s going to help the game…not.
I’m like you lads, family, a job, other commitments, but I enjoy gaming and want The Division to become a top seller and top popularity for years to come. We may not get that, I don’t know. But acting like children is going to get people know where, I am annoyed at the amount of hackers, cheaters, exploiters, bad programming, lag and the stupid adjustments they are making like crafting nerf for example. It pisses me off just like you. And for all those people who took advantage of the glitches etc. in the game, shame on you. You’re the ones breaking the game like all the lame hackers, blame yourselves for not only poisoning the game, but breaking the community apart.
I’m going to get flamed at, I can sense the heat, but lads, c’mon. Work together, the game is still young and give it a little more time, take a break and play something else if you’re on meltdown. Give feedback to the Devs, do our part in making the game better, even if it is beyond the call of duty.
Ubisoft…..Massive…sort your end out and do it quickly. The most annoying thing is that players are being left in the dark, we understand that you can’t release certain details to protect what you’re working on to help the game, I get that, and we get that. But give us something, something to let us know you’re thinking of us and trying to make the game better for us as whole. Don’t just jump ship and leave it, get your guys on it and stop making new games until your current games work! Put up polls to see what the players want and find out more from the community in regards the games future.
Thanks for reading chaps, fingers crossed that The Division comes back from this set back.
Kind regards
