Help with Drowned Man cave?
I don't know if there's anything anyone can do to help me with something like this, but I'm fairly desperate, so I thought what the heck, I'd give it a shot.
I'm at the point in the cave where you go up a ramp and grapple onto an outcrop of rock in the ceiling. It's in the room where a mammoth skeleton is in the water. I'm supposed to swing over onto a horizontal rock bridge, and then drop down into the water on the other side.
I have tried to do this about 40 times. I always, always come up short and slide down into the water on the side I'm coming from. I've watched people do this in videos, and although they don't SEEM to be doing anything different, they make it, and I don't. I've tried hanging low, medium and high. I've tried pushing the o: detach button and holding it. I've tried hitting o: detach and x: jump at the same time. I have also tried screaming at the TV and pulling my hair out, but I'm less surprised that didn't work.
Short of coming over to my house and doing this for me, can anyone suggest anything? Because the map disappears when you're in one of these "lost" caves, I'm completely stuck here. My $60 game is now worth nothing because I cannot make this stupid jump, and there's no way to back out of the cave even though this isn't a critical path mission.
Not especially good in caves however...
Is that the one that has plant growth over the entrance you are trying to reach, if so you have to burn that away first with say a lit arrow fired from a suitable vantage point otherwise you just bash against the blockage and fall down as the ledge is too narrow to hold you.
I hope I am right and this is some help to you as some of those caves seem hard work to me. There is one jump I keep failing because I either over jump and fall down the far side or underjump - have to get back to that one - luckily it was not a block to me finding a way out again just to reaching the objects of my desire.
Sorry for my poor advice yes I was thinking of another cave.
Stupidly have done that one in fact all the lock in find your way out caves and realised a bit after posting I was probably talking about the wrong one. Old memory is rubbish too. Now you mention it I even recall that issue of swing back and forth striving to get the right momentum and failing at first. The caves giving me the most grief are the ones you have to delve for collectables never sure if say that jump is so awkward because there is actually an alternate route and I am doing it wrong. Actually some alternate routes might be nice as in a route that is all careful leaps and one which is more about observation as in spotting a concealed easier way. I hate perfectly times leaps in games I am rubbish at them and the more I think about wait to this point before button pressing the more I get it wrong. There was a bell tower too in FC4 that drove me nuts then I just sussed out how to fly in and do it even though that was a bit tricky as the thing always started beeping there due to the altitude - dirty trick.
