Hey riders,
We’ve seen ups and downs, fought for the same things and even fought against each other due to opposing points of view. We’ve seen the rise and retirement of True Fans, NRLP, RLTV and other amazing projects that I loved working on over the last 3 years.
You’ve seen the trash-talking donkey-driving rivalries of Shogun and myself, as well as the nit-picking arguments between Badger and I, both being things that you only really get from someone you count among your best friends. You don’t typically see much from Mikko, Johanna, Tomi, Mickael (En0) or Alex (LzZzR), but they have also been on the RedLynx Community Team (or going out of their way to help us help you) that to not mention them seems like the weakest of weak-sauce in the history of history.
I’ve traveled all over the United States and into parts of Europe. I’ve worked 10k people trade-shows all the way up to the spectacle that is an E3. I’ve been behind the scenes at PAX East and in front of the crowds at RTX trying, and failing, to keep ANBA on point. I’ve been able to write for not only the RedLynx outlets, but also the Ubisoft and Playstation Blogs. I’ve been lucky enough to meet a number of you during my travels, and fortunate enough to make friends across this industry.
It’s been crazy eventful for the last three years and I keep thinking to myself how lucky I have been. The journey from volunteer moderator to fan-site writer to part-time Trials Community Manager to full-time RedLynx Community Manager, there has always been a sense of moving forward here at RedLynx that I will always be grateful for.
I’ve always enjoyed this job, I’ve always had an awesome time with this community. Who else gets to talk about Trials, make Trials videos and “be” Trials on social media? It’s basically a dream gig. Sure, we’ve had our arguments, but I know it’s all due to how passionate that you are for these games. If you didn’t care, then you wouldn’t care. It’s as simple as that. You all are super invested in Trials.
Why does any of this matter? Well, I have accepted a promotion within Ubisoft. Seems like an easy decision, right? Promotions are awesome, they mean that people like what you are doing and they want to acknowledge that and allow you a chance to further excel at what you do.
This move is particularly difficult in that it means I will no longer be directly working for the RedLynx studio and my awesome friends on the RedLynx community team. I have to do the public shout-outs for at least the Badger and the Shogun, so while it may seem overly dramatic, these guys have both helped me out more than I can ever thank them for.
Blue, I always give you crap, but I do it to keep you on your toes. You stress about things that you know matter to the community, and while calming down might work for some people, you use it to get stuff done. In the immortal words of Will Ferrell;

Shogun, seeing you move from a community track builder to a RedLynx track builder and videographer to the Trials ComDev has been awesome. We’ve had more on the schedule for Fusion than for everything else we’ve worked on together and not only did you keep me on point, you had confidence in my work. Working with you has been inspiring, man.

There isn’t enough room to mention all of the awesome community members that have been so helpful over the years, but just know that if YOU think that we could be friends, then we are. Don’t hesitate to hit me up on the socials or forums, whenever. If you have helped with Ninja tracks, Track Jams, Uplay Recommended, RedLynx Picks, Track of the Week, giving us feedback on the forums or any of the other Community influenced things that RedLynx has done over the years, then thank you for your involvement. Couldn’t have done it without you.
While I won’t be up and disappearing from the forums or other social media outlets overnight, I will be scaling back on my direct involvement with Trials Fusion and Trials Frontier over the next few weeks. I’ll still be hanging around, writing some news articles and interacting on the forums until we find the right person to take over the role, but on August 28th I will be logging my last race as part of the RedLynx studio.
I hope you can all join in and wax nostalgic with me on the August 28th Trials Live (and hopefully Badger can get Skype calls to work).
Even though I will be off of the Trials Community Team, you’ll still see me around the forums when time permits. I’ve been a Trials gamer for YEARS and that’s not something that I see ever changing. If you really want to know what I’m up to, then you can always hit me up on PSN at RedLynxRonin, Xbox Live at RoguishRonin or on Twitter at @ShiftySamurai.
Until next time, Riders.
