Is the fall damage every going to get fixed in the Far Cry games?
If you fall about 3 feet then most of your life has gone.
The damage threshold is re-DONK-ulously low. If the FarCry games' fall damage height were the same in real life i'd break my ankles hoppin outta bed haha
Seriously, the fall damage in FC3/4 are honestly my biggest complaints about the game(s), which is crazy cause it seems like something so trivial, but it's something that frustrates on a constant basis. I would so rather have the damage threshold be unrealistically high than it's current setting of unrealistically low. There was a lot to love about Blood Dragon, but the lack of any fall damage was one of the best things!! Realistically, I think we should be able to jump off of any of the 1 story buildings with NO damage taken, heck, even just dropping from a 2nd story roof should be about the height that initiates the little roll recovery move and still deal no damage....
One other thing I think they should do is make it so that you can tell whether you'll initiate a death from above before you jump (a subtle highlight of the enemy perhaps?) Can't tell you how many times i've tried to do a DFA move from a significant height only to roll or fall to my death beside the enemy even though I was right on top of him...
p.s. so glad this bothers someone else, haha, never heard anyone mention it so I thought I was just being nit-picky about it....
HorTyS that is interesting reference the DFA Takedown - I have done so many of those from a small height and have also looked silly when some did not connect - thought it was me doing something wrong, I would also like to be able to drop from bigger heights without taking as much damage - It has been like this with FC2 / FC3 / FC4 on consoles with the Instincts series you could jump from buildings and bigger heights, it felt much better and helped the flow IMO.
It really does help the game just feel better. Navigating the world (a world they deliberately made full of uneven terrain mind you) is so much more painless when you don't have to worry about jumping off a 4 foot rock on your way down a hillside. I would honestly prefer the damage height limit were unrealistically high as opposed to the current annoyingly low set up they've got. It's such a small thing that would be super easy to adjust (I imagine) but it would seriously make me SO happy to see that change.
Speaking of high DFAs though, the highest one I've ever managed is in the very beginning of this little montage I made here...

I've got some other little clips & stuff on the channel as well of messin' about with takedowns & just funny moments & whatnot. Also a glitch I had doing a DFA on a guy one time where it basically put me in spectator mode...
