  1. Probably deserved it, I did name him but I honestly thought that he would have more class and a better sense of humour. As for being unprofessional, you'll have to be the judge of that but I don't think it is any less professional than being active on the forums banning people who question your judgment and removing posts you don't agree with whilst failing to respond to any of the pressing issues raised by dozens of other members.
  2. Interviewer: For example?

Mattshotcha: Well if people complained about weapons or gearsets being overpowered I would suggest exercising more situational awareness and if anyone questioned our transparency on issues we would ban them, you know 5 mins or 20 mins enough to make them realize they should just leave it and if they didn't ... we'll you know ... permaban.

Interviewer: Alrighty then ... well I think that's all Matt. We have your details. You'll be hearing from us if you are successful ... (mutters under breath) which is probably about as likely as getting a God rolled Classified Tactician set before Xmas ... (smiles sweetly).
  3. Mattshotcha: Yes, 2%. 98% of our players left, but you know no one can say for certain why, I mean we had a lot of complaints on the forums about the DZ, imbalance, broken game mechanics, constant gear score hikes destroying builds, lack of content, content being too difficult, constant nerfs etc. I mean there were a lot of others, poor RNG, player toxicity, exploits and bugs, cheaters, lack of anti-cheat software, lag, latency, constant delta errors, matchmaking, but nothing that would account for so many players leaving. I think it was just natural wastage you experience in any game.

Interviewer: Really? (rolls eyes), so what else did you do there?

Mattshotcha: I also hosted streams where I would give tips to players on improving their game, give shout outs to people in chat and ban those whose opinions were controversial.
  4. Interviewer: Oh, so you never took any player feedback on board?

Mattshotcha: Er, yes, once. When player numbers dropped to an all time low we appealed to the community for help on improving the game, took their advice on board, significantly improved the game and saw an influx of new players.

Interviewer: Wow, so a successful strategy you were keen to continue then?

Mattshotcha: No, not really! We decided to just do our own thing again about six weeks later and the numbers tanked again, but, you know, that wasn't our fault, we just knew better than the players and had a vision for the game that we had to pursue because it was better for the game as a whole.

Interviewer: So you adopted changes that were important for the longevity of the game even if they weren't popular with the community?

    Mattshotcha: Exactly.

Interviewer: And what was your retention ratio during the first year?

    Mattshotcha: 2%

    Interviewer: No your 'retention rate'.
  5. Mattshotcha's new job interview.
Interviewer: So, Matt your resume says you worked for a triple A software company on one of the most successful new IPs of the year.

Mattshotcha: Yes I was a Community Manager at Massive working on The Division.

Interviewer: So not entirely accurate then (smiles)

    Mattshotcha: Well ....

Interviewer: So tell me, as a Community Manager what were your main responsibilities?

Mattshotcha: Well, I would read the forums to get opinions and feedback from our player base and reflect it to our game developers.

Interviewer: Oh so you were actively encouraging interaction with the community and fostering a sense of dedication in improving the game?

Mattshotcha: Um, no not really, we really didn't bother to respond to any of the posts or take note of any feedback. We basically just decided what we were going to do and followed through with it regardless.
