Have anyone else noticed that the external sounds would be back where they were before the 1.22 patch? I mean now you can hear a bouncing plane before it's withing gunning range again, and make an evasive maneouver. I liked the sounds as they were in 1.22. Did someone protest about them or why are they changed back?

It's by far not as strong as before 1.22, but you can hear now, when you are shot at. I play Ravenshield a lot, where you depend on your hearing sense, so I liked the sounds prior to 1.22. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

With both, fixed and original 2.0 .dll's it's quite good modelled, IMHO. The distance at which you can hear somebody drop onto you won't help you evading...

I have to say, I have no clue if the pilots could hear their enemies' engines in real life. I just have never found a writing where someone would state that he did.

Hearing enemy's engine in RL? Maybe in glider but certanily NO in WWII fighter. I got ride in a Yak 14 trainer a few years ago, the only sound I could hear was roaring of 700HP engine and it was ears cruching. Now imagine the AS82FN / 1850 HP. Without ear plugs you simply can't stand it...

Altitude, speed, manoeuvre and.... CRASH!

I've certainly noticed some of my potential victims pulling hard from a level course right at the moment of truth. Not sure if it was voice coms or TrackIR with 6 view enabled or the fact they could hear me though.

Yes, it's definitely back :/. Bugger. Not as bad as before? Well, maybe, but I can certainly hear enemy planes coming up on my six, even when they are flying below me on the deck sometimes, depending on where I look at (where the sound of my own engine comes from). Maybe some hear them better than others because of using a headset. I certainly hear them with my headset. Dunno why they changed that again, wasn't sound basicly perfect in 1.22?

Yes! It would be nice if some of you respected http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif fellows wrote to ORR or even email Oleg about this. The sound in 1.22 really was perfect IMHO. Maybe someone just accidentally put wrong files in wrong places when making AEP. At least I hope so http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

bump for fixing the sound.

we shouldn't have sonar. i liked the sound in 1.22.

if they fix the sound so its like it was in 1.22, i hope they make so you can't bypass the fix and still have sonar.

SonOftheBeach69,

What fixed.dll are you referring to. I tried replacing the sound files in AEP with those from 1.22 but it didn't seem to make any difference. I am willing to experiment with switching dll files but I am not sure which one to replace. Loved the sound in 1.22 but really dislike AEP's sound. Don't won't to give up the biplanes.

Can't really say that I love Il-2 sound at all. It's... well it sucks big time!

I meant the .dll file that Oleg released to fix the timeout-problem.

I think the "sonar" effect is sound card specific. There are some guys I fly with that experience while others don't. I don't post AEP but did prior to it.
