Blatant plugs for CFS3 are locked or deleted as soon as they're spotted. Discussions relevant to IL2/FB that inlcude CFS3 are permitted to continue for varying amounts of time depending on the tone of the thread & its relevance to this community.

Since this thread is about CFS3, should I lock it too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif??

I am afraid that too many forums are less than tolerent of anything that is not pure. Its like NAZI behavior man all worship IL2 HAIL!!

I love IL2 and h8 CFS games but really enjoy the discusions that compare them. Its good for competition and keeps us on our toes.

Whats your poison;

Democracy
Communism
Socialism
Capitalism
Monarchy
Oligarchy
etc

Just trying to keep it real, I know of another forum that has BLINKERS on. The Combat Mission forums. The LADs there are very bright on the ww2 subject but cannot stand to talk about anything not exclusively CM. In fact they are so harsh as to chase newbies away.
It is off course the chosen few bananas that are like this.

I am for an open honest opinions on CFS3 especially since there is no General Forum here and IL2 is so obviously the winner in the ww2 flight sim category.

If even a whiff of other flight sims got peoples posts removed then I would have to move to an impartial forum like simHQ or NETwings

However I enjoy this forum its honesty and its dedication to my favorite flight sim...

IMHO

Yes, too many OTs.

Also, it would be nice if people would give a person an idea what their thread is about, too. Huh, BC? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Really, what is with starting a new thread and putting no decent description in regards to what it is about.? Thread titles like...
Hey, look what I found.
OT. But.
Hey, so and so, what was.
Somewhat OT, but here it is.
Help!!!!!
How do I...
Map question. (At least that is partially informative. But, just ask the question in a concise manner.)
Etc.

And quit using the boards for PM's. That is what Private Topics are for.
What did I miss, BC? Heh. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ok, the point is that, following a number of *very* nasty flame wars, and the forum being nearly colapsing under the load of Il-2 vrs CFS3 threads, aroudn the time of the GFS3 launch, CFS3 was barred from discusion on the General forum. It could be discused freely in the now defunct Pilot's Lounge, but not here.

Other sims and games were, and still are fine to discuss. It is just CFS3 that got the special treatment.

One of the occupational hazards of the Ubi forums is that they are full of old flamewars that newer posters have to avoid, and this is just one of them.

As I said, blatant plugs are a no-no, but topics that have relevance to the IL2 community are allowed, how long depending on how the topic evolves. If it turns into blatant plugs or flame fests, lock or delete. If it's a constructive comparison or informative and helpful for this community, it stays.

Again, sheeeesh. Let's not bury our heads in the sand for the sake of keeping discussions on this board "pure". My last post was done with tongue in cheek. However, I am a strong advocate of discussing the relative measures of all flight sims as they compare to IL2. Most of us are sim junkies to a certain degree and enjoy sharing our ups and downs in regards to alternative flight sims.

Our interest in the features, or the lack of features in a particular game can only clue the developers on what we desire. It is a positive thing and a no brainer in my humble opinion.

This game, FB, is a stand out and I'm quite sure it/we can handle any comparitive discussions. It does not bode well for our genre if we vehemently deny the existince, let alone virtues, of other like games.

If you do not care for a particular game platform or do not desire to discuss it then so be it. Leave the thread. This option is always available. But on the other hand, if you have actually tried some of the other flight sims, then let's discuss the merits and pitfalls of them.
