I took a few moments out from playing to watch them... they randomly stop for conversation with other NPC's. there are some taking bodies to the underground, some having their boots polished or sitting around eating fruit, making out in a passageway or 2 guys beating another guy up, newspaper vendors and some just sat rubbing their feet..... brilliant and yet most of the time I'm so busy I do not notice all the things they do.... there must be more. if you see something let me know.

I saw a marriage proposal in the middle of a park. Some people play music. Others have a strength competition. There is much more, after I finished the game I wandered the streets and looked around. The streets are more alive then ever. :)

Thats the reson I walk between objectives, theres a lot of things from the npcs on this game, to bad they were not easily apreciated by all the bugs. I've watched a couple of executions on the guillotine after they cut the head off they show it to the public and then toss it in a basket, seen people getting haircuts, shaves, measuring dresses, getting blessed by priests, having memorial services.

One thing that bothers me is that if they are holding something or doing something with an object and you get close to them they will drop the object. I mean I know Arno can be scary but please

Like this guy. I came across this fella at the end of the Les Enrages mission. (Fast forward to the end of the video.)

In past games I've seen painters, proposals, constructors, couriers, beggars, musicians, jugglers, fire breathers, farmers, fishers, blending spots people pose better since AC3.
There's also conversations in blending spots that don't move...

Also watched the woman selling Cockades put one on a guy, I tried asking her if she would sell me her basket so I can unlock stuff but she did not answer :(

Edit: just to add something I just saw (BTW the guy seems to be painting something else o.O) hope the same dedication to the NPCs is seen on Victory

Yes, especially people carrying severed heads on top of spikes. They drop the head & the spike, and forget about it immediately. The animation seems familiar, I think there was something similar in AC3 or 4 (without the severed heads, obviously).

The art team for this game deserves the highest praise imaginable.

*Everyone* in the AC universe has parkour capabilities. In ACU that extends to people arbitrarily shooting up into the air while walking next to a street lamp.

But seriously, the meanest freerunner in the series so far was the monk at the final Romulus stage in ACB, in St. Peter's Basilica.

Some great finds! There were painters in Brotherhood as well (possibly in AC II, but I can't remember for sure). Unfortunately, in unity, they all paint the same "canned" pictures, with one exception:

The only thing I don't like about the NPCs is that if you bump into them or interact in any way with them that immediately stop what they were doing and just go to the standard idle animation and never return to what they were doing. I tested this in AC4 and when I bumped into a group of people talking they stopped talking for a second then when I walked away they started talking again. This is a small complaint but I hope to see this fixed in AC:V

you're not supposed to interact with them that's why they're called NPC's.... they're not really a part of the game they're background like scenery.

This thread is about what they are doing rather than just standing or wandering the streets like sheep.

I did a jazzy stroll through the streets last night before bed and I agree they've scriped some complicated things to play out! I like that.

On one street a social event started.. a thug was roughing a guy up and ended up killing him... I didn't do anything and the thug ran off and another guy came running over and collapsed at the dead guy and he started bawling while a small crowd gathered around. That's pretty cool for just NPCs.

On another note this thread is not good for my gameplay time. Now Im always watching for npc actions, have you guys seen all the events of the cockade seller? Im not going to spoil it for you, is very interesting and I cant believe they wen through all that trouble of scripting that.

For me, the world is surprisingly detailed. A lot of other games don't go as far for things like this because they assume people don't notice. I like how you can find so many odd things in the game as well, like that boat with 1 man, a couple bodies, and a army of stray cats. Easter eggs are always rewarding to find.

Oh I think she asks for a morning off to meet a "friend" to walk in the park.... and the intendant says something like... "a true friend would understand your job is more important than idle chatting in the park" and the maid reluctantly agrees and then the intendants says something like " I believe the fireplaces on the second floor could do with cleaning" and after a short pause he says "well, what are you waiting for ?"

A little spoilerish but since I'm replaying I just found this out

On the memory were you infiltrate the palace and follow Elisse there's an orgy of evidence something is about to happen if you stay and listen closely. Robespierre, Siberre, La Rou de Tun, La Franiere and that lady I can't remember her name are all there, if you listen to Siberre and la Rou de Tun talking you'll hear them plotting about that night.

I wish Ubisoft used the same tactic as in FC4 were you can actually finish the game in 5 minutes if you wait at the table for Pagan and then kill him the game is over. It would have been nice after hearing the conversation given the option to prevent Musiu de la Serre's dead and instantly end the game.
