Option 6:

1. key: open radiator by 2 notches
2. key: close radiator by 2 notches
3. key: switch manual/auto

Then I'd bind the first one to R, the second one to E and the third one to E+R

Problem with keys to open and close radiator is you would not know which position the radiator is actually in.

if you use:
strg1: radiator closed
strg2: radiator 1/4 opend
strg3: radiator 1/2 opend
........
strg5: radiator all open

you would allways know which position your radiator has even if you forgett (just press the button you want it to be).

The good thing about this solution would be that it should be easy to implement. No new gauges have to be modelled for every plane.

Maybe I'm just not terribly forgetful, but I don't think I ever forget what position my radiator is in.

I think the only really NEEDED addition to the radiator toggling system, is a "back" button.. so to speak. No one likes cycling all the way through the settings, especially when you miss the one you're looking for.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

no need for new buttons, i think its good now. im using manual or ato, depends the plane of course.
u can "check" ur radiator settings quick by presising R letter, its really fast to cycle thru different settings to desired settings. well, if there is gonna be those extra buttons, please keep the cycle button http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

Onscreen messages are immersion killing bullcrap and thus suck a s s.
More keys needed.

P.S. bad word filters suck a s s also.

I know the R button works fine. But you do not know what setting you have if you do not use onscreen messages. That is the point of this topic...

I understand this Radiator problem. I have a 1,2,3,4,5, system. I tap 5 times : Open. 1 tap: Close. 5 taps Open. Not easy to forget. But a radiater internal indicater would be good. If there isn`t one in the aircraft then I`d go for the 3rd option of allowing individual HUD on/off messages so we could tailor just the radiator overheat/ open indicaters.

Hi All,

I'd welcome the option to toggle HUD text, ideally along with the facility to edit it. 16 point neon textual confirmation that we've destroyed an enemy plane or that our cannons have jammed isn't required, and nor should it be provided. We do need to know the setting of the radiator flap, however.

Cheers,

Greg

Oh you mean like on the Hurricane yeah that would be nice to have an indicator on all planes like that.

Personally, I can handle it the way it is. But, in a perfect world I'd like to see correctly animated/modeled 'levers' or other indicators in the cockpit. I can wait for BoB for that though.

No-HUD-Logger's Mantra:
Closed,2,4,6,8,Open,Auto,Closed,2,4,6,8,Open,Auto, Closed

Or, on some planes (like the P40):
Closed,2,4,6,8,Open,Closed,2,4,6,8,Open,Closed,2,4 ,6,8,Open

good old raybanjockey suggested this along time ago, radiator + and radiator - key and option for mapping to slider. Its one of the only posts I ever thought was good from him and agreed with. Where is rbj he made these forums fun with his humor. The trim thing did get annoying IMO.

I would really like to see a view change added to slider as well that scrolls thru the different fov incriments fast. this would free up 3 buttons on the stick.

thanx btw for adding the one button that cycles thru the three main views. wide normal and gunsite view.

You can do this already by setting your slider up as a banded axis. I know for the Saitek X45 you can do this, and I would guess for other sticks with sliders You can set each of the FOV views to a separate band on the slider.

I do not have sliders free. So I would prefer keys for the radiatorsettings. If I forget the setting the radiator is in, I just press the button again to make sure everything is fine.

I mostly fly the Bf109 which does not have an indicator. But I think the Bf110 has one?!
