According to the main page Pacific Fighters is scheduled for a fall 2004 release. I'm not sure where the developers are in terms of coding, but they certainly got a whole lot of work left ahead of them. They still have a lot more 3D models to create, not to mention the enormous task of tying everything together with the game engine itself. I'll be pleasantly suprised if they can get everything together for a fall 2004 release. In fact, I predict that the release date gets bumped back to 1Q 2005. Anyone want to a friendly bet on this?

From the development updates I've seen thus far, I'm very impressed at the talents fo the developers. When it does come out, you can be sure I'll be purchasing it upon its immediate availability.

I might agree with you on Q1 2005 and that doesn't bother me at all.

I saw "Fall 2004" on day 1 of this site and thought it sounded very optimistic. Obviously its not as big a task as building a new sim from scratch, but I do think (uneducated guess of course) it will get pushed back abit, good games always do, and that is no problem for me. All in its own time!

Perhaps we should start pre-whining for the patch just to keep them on their toes? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Q4 2004 is probably what it will end up as. PF seems to be progressing quickly, so I will try to be optimistic.

personaly i think its perfectly possable.. They have a fair amount of people working on aircraft. I assume they have a team of ppl with the scenery creation tools. As they dont actuly have to make a complete game from scratch.

I would say it sounds like a perfectly possable release date.. they have already had to get allot of stuff ready for E3 so.. well we will see..

We also don't know how much was completed during the Secret Time, before they admitted what they were doing. Looks like they did pretty good, if they waited until it was more than 50% completed before announcement.

The Days of Deception! The Age of Anguish! The Time of Torment
when the Simlings wandered the Great Darkness!

"Uncloaketh thyself, o Great Sim! Shine thy glory upon us!" cried the Simlings
"and lead us out of the Great Darkness, for we have wandered for too long,
and are frankly sick and tired of Yaks and Focke-Wulfs. Step forward Cloaked One!

"Very well, I shall." said the Cloaked One. And the rest as they say, is history.

Many of the new planes are in the game already, as seen from teh screenshots, as well as new features (infantry for instance), I must agree the fall seems a good prediction, especially it will be very unwise to release PF at the same time with Oleg's BoB.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Indeed. So I bet my shirt it will be this fall, so that we can recover before BoB release.

I thought it sounded a bit ambitious myself. Bully for them if they deliver, even before Christmas, but I won't be too disappointed if it does turn into an early '05 release.

Well, if it comes out a month before BoB no-one will buy it, so I'd be good to have it out this fall.

Unless we start seeing some textures in the dev updates soon, or vids at E3, I think BoB is still a long way off.

I agree with Ola. At the earliest,I believe BoB will be released toward the latter part of 2005. I wouldn't be at all suprised if PF is delayed until Q1 of 2005. Of course I have no idea what level PF is at in development,so maybe I'll be pleasantly suprised and it'll be released without delay. We can only hope.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

LOL by using 3 letters "bob" we forgot it means Battle of Britain and everybody who wants Pacific planes will buy the FP even if its releaced after the BoB.

Those who want pacific planes could buy one of the Microsoft flight simulators long time ago. I for example will definately not buy PF if it is released after bob, and I will buy it if it is released before.

You will buy FP if you want Pacific planes.

You will buy Microsoft if you want Microsoft planes.

Logic can be very simple, from time to time. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

What do we do now when we want to sim Pacific planes. Fire up 2FSC of course no matter how old it is. After BoB comes out and nobody else makes a Pacific sim, what will we do. Fire up SF2C or the FP?

There's that logic again. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BoB may very well need a couple of rounds of patching before it gets smooth.. It's completely new!

Personally I will pre-order it and install it the very same day it arrives here, but there's always some inertia before the world switches to the new kid in town..

Just think to the online community: less than 10, early war, flyables for BoB (just guessing on the number) against more than one hundred from all theaters and years for PF.

It's quite obvious that they have a lot left to do.
