Definitely going for the D3A Aichi. A very impressive performer. have just finished reading Peter Smith's book on the Val and it is an eye opener. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Alternative choices could be A6M5 Zero model with a single bomb or the earlier A6M2s which could carry small bombs under the wings I believe.

I think japan used manly the val and Kate for sinking enemy ships by air strikes.
But you can't compare Kate and Jill because the jill was a later version of the Kate. The jill did her job after the B5N Kate not at the same time. During the "jill-period" the last Kates was used as recon planes and not longer as Torpedo bombers

The Kate for me,
I like living dangerously!

Historically, the Val sank more ships.
The Kate was the most advanced for its time.
But you forgot the D4Y in your poll ...

D4Y Suisei 'Judy' link (http://www.wwiitech.net/main/japan/aircraft/d4y/)

Judy! Judy! Judy was the fastest carrier dive bomber in the pacific. Way faster than a kate, dauntless, or avenger. Just about as fast as a fighter. Judys knocked the USS Frankline CV out of the war. A single Judy sunk the CVL Princeton. It was impressive if it could get past the fighter screens.

Hehe, and when I say avenger, I mean Helldiver. Although it was much faster than the avenger too.

the KATEwith 800kg and torpedo

Remember, the Kate had no forward-firing machine guns.

I would choose the Val. Its steep dive and good handling made it a favorite for the air forces of the Japaneses. Are you mad at me for my last poll?

You will never EVER catch me flying a Val in PF. The USAAF considered Val's the closest thing to a flying coffin in the entire world. Poorly armed, slow speed and inability to defend itself. No thanks!

You wanna talk about inability to defend itself...lets talk about the Kate!

How about no forward firing machine gun. Just a buddy in the back swinging a 7.62 around in the air...oh yeah, LET ME SIGN UP FOR THAT!

Hell, the only thing you could do if you were the pilot of a Kate bomber was make inappropriate gestures and scream "Suck my Reisen, White Devils!!"

I would choose the Judy.

japanese strike planes were dead meat if caught without Zeros. Flying Zippos http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif

O, how I want to hold you,
To feel your breath
And hear your laughter in my ears.
To look into your eyes
And see myself in there.
Caress you with my lips.
To hold your hands in mine
And find the hidden smile in your dimple
That makes you irresistible
And stops the breathing in my chest.
To be with you when you are weeping,
To wipe away the tears and take away the sorrow.
To watch you while you are sleeping
Like there is no tomorrow.

And with a tender kiss to wake you up.
