View Full Version : Is it worth getting Unity if you cant open blue chests?

I stopped myself from getting Unity simply because I wanted to check first if my phone was compatible with the app. Not that I should have to do that, this being a AAA big budget, full priced game. But it turns out it isnt compatible. Or apparently, it isnt anymore. I've got a Moto G (first gen).

So basically, I cant open blue chests unless I either get a new phone or get windows 8. Which makes my blood boil, btw.

Since i find it incredibly absurd and insulting to have to do either to be able to play a feature which cant be turned off, in a game I'm expected to pay 60 dollars for, I figured I'd make the following inquiry; how prominent are the blue chests in the game? By which I mean, do you get something from them you couldnt get otherwise? is the content, if exclusive, relevant to the gameplay?

I'm a bit of a completionist myself, but if the content itself isnt particulary useful I might aswell suck it up and play without it.

Thanks for any info on this subject.

PS.: Seriously. Its absolutely baffling that Ubisoft is gettin away with this degree of behaviour. This industry is getting suckier by the minute.

Blue chests are extremely marginal. They are small monetary rewards. The app also unlocks some easy generic missions ("kill/pickpocket one ordinary unsuspecting patriot") and very a small number of artifacts.

BTW, I am baffled that Moto G can't ran the app as I've got a phone with similar hardware that does (Cubot GT99, quad core A7 at 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM). If you;ve got Windows 8, 8.1 (and presumably Windows 10 Preview), you can download it from the Store as well. Also, there is some free application for Windows that enables you to run Win 8 apps on Win 7.

In g2a.com its 20 USD sooo its cheap for this "AAA" game, 40 less USD thanks of alot of bugs so people sell them cheap.

Sorry about my bad english

thank you both for the info!

regarding price, yeah, I know its possible to get it cheaper, it just pisses me off to see a AAA game behaving like a sheep milking cellphone app. Its a bad omen.

Are the "artifacts" useful for anything? or is it just some random useless collectable?

also, are those side activities that are activated by the app such as killing a random guy and such, also available in the regular game?

I checked, you need to collect the artifacts to unlock a total of 6 objects. Five are mid-range gear and the last one is Altair's outfit. Those 6 things do count towards completion of the game.

You can't unlock those side activities without the app, but at least they do not count towards the completion of the game, and neither do blue chests. BTW, there are three types of those missions and they look exactly like this (I'm not simplifying them):

a target you need to kill is marked on your map nearby; the mark is walking alone and isn't suspicious; you walk to the mark and press kill;
a target you need to pickpocket is marked on your map nearby; the mark is walking alone and isn't suspicious; you walk to the mark and hold pickpocket;
a target you need to protect is marked on your map nearby; the mark is waiting in a semi-secluded back yard; you walk to the mark and three enemies rush in; you kill them.

Trust me, you won't miss those as there are tons of side missions in AC U Paris:

18 Nostradamus enigmas
a similar number of murder mysteries
more than 50 "Paris stories" missions (I think a lot over 50), all with a back story, some involving famous people and some forming story arcs consisting of several missions
co-op and heist missions, quite a few of them
random events that don't even count towards game completion (protect citizens, catch thieves, kill escorted targets without being detected)

Thanks for the info Lignjoslav!

It's clear to me that the app itself is an absolute waste. I only wish they hadn't blocked content behind it, becasue, even if useless, that Altair armor sounds pretty alluring, hahaha

I guess I'll wait and see what happens. Perhaps Ubisoft will take some measure of ammendment in future patches. Or perhaps they'll make the stupid app compatible with the Moto G first gen. That would be splendid. But hopefully they'll make it possible to toggle those blue chests off. It must be annoying to find them knowing you cannot open them.

In any case, ill wait and see. Because I'm noy paying full price for something that requires me to waste more money just to get 100% on it. First they sold horse armour, then they sell you cheats, now you cant even get the whole game. I'll wait for a discount. A heavy one.

So, anyway, thanks to you all for the thorough answers!

Five are mid-range gear

They all suck compared to what already can be purchased in-game without the app. ... albeit, the Sword of Eden ran out of "battery" when I got it.

and the last one is Altair's outfit.

The one we unlock in-game by finishing the Enigma looks way better anyways. ... albeit, I hate riddles - they make me confused.

You can run the unity app on windows with an emulator ir sort, search the forums as someone already posted how it works.
