A. Installation

IMPORTANT: Create a backup of your existing patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat files. (For more information, check the readme.txt file that is included in the download.)
Copy/Paste the included patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat files from this download into %FC4_INSTALLDIR%/data_win32/, overwriting the existing files.
Launch the Map Editor; You should now have additional folders available in the object "Add" tool.
You should only use the included patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat files while you are using the Map Editor, and revert back to the default patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat while playing the actual game. This is the reason you have to create a backup of these files.

B. Permissions

You MAY use this mod to create custom maps and publish them
You MAY create any video or text based content of this mod (articles, forum threads, youtube videos, etc.)
You MAY NOT use any parts of this mod in your own mod
You MAY NOT host any public copies of this mod

Nice work! I have a few questions/suggestions for your future releases:

-Think you could resolve the issue with Vista's not showing inside the actual game? They only show from editor and in my opinion that really takes a lot away.
-Could you make entities that will drop a random weapon with random attachment at a specific spot? Think 3 key locations in a level that never has the same loot.
-A custom loadout option for the designer? So many of these starter sets have mines and c4.

And a minor suggestion:

-The poppy flowers from the tea factory if they're not in there already.

All of them I've tried.

But there's something far more worrying than any of this. After installing your mod and replacing both patch files (after I made a backup of them), it somehow corrupted my game. After I reverted back to the original patch files and launched the editor again:

-The main game would no longer boot, referring to common.dat.
-The lighting was messed
-Anti-aliasing would cause the black screen issue as mentioned above.
-All vegetation had lod issues
-Letterbox viewport inside editor
-All the ledge grabs were offset by like 10 meters high

I'm using Steam. I had to re-do a file validation after deleting the 1+ GB patch and common files, and now my game works again. I highly recomend you test on various setup before making the mod public, or at least highly recommend backing up common and the large patch files, because your patch files, at least on my end, modified other files.

And another thing, and I suppose this is normal, but I've placed signature weapons with the mod on, and tested after reverting back to the default patch files, the weapons would now show as red character silhouettes. I'd imagine this means there are cross-compatibility issues and only people who have downloaded the mod will be able to get the signature weapons?

I'm able to place those NPCs without issues (as I have tested every single one of them). I also haven't had issues while using this mod. I'm guessing the problem is on your end. It could be that you have used an outdated backup (based on what your error list suggests) of patch_hd or perhaps you have mixed the files and actually tried playing with this mod?

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles though. I can't help much as I haven't had any issues with the mod.

I also tried the following:


Loaded up Map Editor with the Editor Mod
Placed some signature weapons on the map
Save map, exit Editor Mod
Replace modded patch_hd files with default patch 1.05 files
Launch game, load the map
Signature weapons are in the map as expected



What ever you are doing, you have most likely mixed up your patch_hd files.

1) I replaced both the patch HD files provided in the zip, just after creating a backup of the same files.
2) Ran the editor and got the black screen bug as reproted above, removed AA to solve this
3) I could tell right away the game looked differently, started noticing weirdness, like vegetation LODs screwups and ledge grabs being offset
4) Everything that wasn't NPCs would appear
5) Closed editor and reverted to HD files
6) Got the corruption, game would no longer load, only editor would.


I'll try again this evening but I'll make sure to backup more than just the HD files this time.

I'll try again this evening but I'll make sure to backup more than just the HD files this time.

80$ CAD made sure every pixels in my game is legit. But yeah, that question is really necessary when it comes to modding.

It is because it sounds like your game is either out of date or messed up really well. I'm sorry but I had to ask it. Just trying to limit the amount of reasons.

Yeah uh, nevermind all of that. It works now? I guess that something was messed up when my game patched before, because it's fine now, I did exactly the same steps as before.

The stuff you placed on the map (for example signature weapons) will be there in-game as well when someone downloads your published map. However, if they would decide to open this downloaded map in their editor without this editor mod, they would not see the custom objects as they are not specified on their list. Instead, they would see these "invalid object" (red spawnpoints).

I'm glad you got your map editor & editor mod working.

Hi thanks for an editor mod so soon! The Far Cry 4 editor seriously needs new objects to design custom content with. Will you be able to add new buildings and structures? And would it be possible to add objects from Far Cry 3?

I don't think it's possible to add objects from Far Cry 3. There are still some leftovers though.

- Added a lot of new objects. Additional object count is now 442!
- Improved the folder structure for new objects

Thanks much for the editor fix! It desperately needed more items from campaign added.
I was just about to post asking if there was a way to add a vendor, (like the gunrack from safehouses), as it would save an editor much time in placing weapons and ammo.

I will attempt to install your fix, thanks again!

Need the "Buzzsaw" weapon.. Need money for store besides corpses... Is there not a way to place a certain amount of money for the player to collect?
I create large, detailed maps and would enjoy players be able to 'shop' part way through, instead of me placing items weapons/ammo and so lagging the map with junk they might never use.

It is indeed a vista. It won't render in the viewport but as soon as you go in-game you should be able to see it. Last time I tried it was a bit weird though, it was like I was inside of the vista..

I barely managed to see it from in-game, looks like the axis origin is way below the actual model, and since we can't manipulate it from the viewport we can't really solve that.

The only reason I wanted to check this out is to mainly try to fix the damned vista not showing in the actual game, but I'm going to bet the same problem will occur since this mesh is bound to a very specific render group, which is not active when running the actual game (not editor).

Hey razor. Nice job so far on all the tools! It's beginning to start to look more like FC3 modding was.

Any chance you would be willing to share that OASIS converter? I have one based off Jim's old FC3 one, but although it seems to convert correctly to and from the .bin file it's causing issues with lip synching in patch 1.6.0 (as in none of the NPCs mouths will move when reciting their lines).

Unfortunately OasisStrings seem to be a gray area for Ubisoft, if we'll get a green light from a community manager or any other Ubisoft employee, we will, but some threads that have discussed the topic have been closed.

It adds new content to the editor, and that content works in published maps and in pure-game mode. All the stock objects remain as they were.

Do these items show up with images and names as you scroll through available objects / items and was it possible to get them into already existing folders or could you create ones such as Far Cry 3 Walls / Far Cry 3 Fences etc ?

This is very exciting but unlucky for me been on consoles, Would something like this be easy to do for consoles as DLC if they had people working on fixes and new content for the editor / game ?

I also have a few questions reference things in the SP FC4 Game.
Some of the snow levels have blizzard conditions and some shangri-la levels have leaves floating around, were you able to get that into custom maps on PC ?

Did you find any other sky box / vista backgrounds to use ?

How does the running water work with streams in the game, some sections appear to move faster - is this something you can use in maps on PC ?

I played through the Single Player game twice and am close to the end on my 3rd play through, oddly this 3rd go the Hurk Missions have not popped up and on the first 2 goes I wasn't given the Harpoon / Impaler gun, is this something you can use in custom maps ? (looks like I might never get to use this weapon)

Porting Far Cry 3 content is problematic due to the fact that most of the FC3 assets are missing from Far Cry 4- obviously you can push these files to the editor, but that creates another problem: they will not be visible for people running in pure-game mode or without the editor mod.

And getting all the SP content in the editor is another problem- they're in a separate archive (fcc_main) instead of the multicommon archive the IGE and IGE maps use. This was all hackable back in Far Cry 2 and 3 but not anymore (The legacy DLC system allowed for it, for example that's how I got the Fortune's Pack content to the Far Cry 2 editor, but that doesn't exist anymore.)

EDIT: Also just did something, again (like with FC2 and FC3, particles are in.)

A. Installation

IMPORTANT: Create a backup of your existing patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat files. (For more information, check the readme.txt file that is included in the download.)
Copy/Paste the included patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat files from this download into %FC4_INSTALLDIR%/data_win32/, overwriting the existing files.
Launch the Map Editor; You should now have additional folders available in the object "Add" tool.
You should only use the included patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat files while you are using the Map Editor, and revert back to the default patch_hd.fat and patch_hd.dat while playing the actual game. This is the reason you have to create a backup of these files.

B. Permissions

You MAY use this mod to create custom maps and publish them
You MAY create any video or text based content of this mod (articles, forum threads, youtube videos, etc.)
You MAY NOT use any parts of this mod in your own mod
You MAY NOT host any public copies of this mod
You MAY NOT upload this mod to other file/mod/etc. sharing sites

This worked beautifully! I spiced up my old assault map ‘Ballern’ with this mod and made it become the extraction map ‘Use your C4 wisely!’.
I noticed that some of the NPC are not working as expected, but the Army two star guard and the snow guards including the snow flamer are working great – really good AI.
The selection of Signature weapons works well and is easy to use.
A few more statics are available, too – which is great.
There are of course many objects listed in the mod’s folders, which are in same way available in the default folders of the editor. By chance those could be replaced with further non-standard objects especially with the nice stuff shown in the Yeti DLC.
Great work! Much appreciated!!! I was not even aware that any mod is possible at all since there are no text based config files. My biggest respect to the Modding team.

The ability to create custom objects within the editor would be very nice, but require incorporating a whole painting program in the editor. Not a small task. But how about a few blank posters in different shapes and sizes, where we could create the text on them. Many times I have wanted to add posters or signs either for humor or to give the player direction. That would be a nice touch to help us create something a little outside the normal Outpost, Extraction, Hunt, etc.map.

But the fact that the game is acting funny on the Editor as well sounds weird. Do you have a legit version of the game?

I have mostly the same "problems", though not the one with black screen, and NPC`s work just fine for me. BUT: For me, the folders of the stuff from the mod are unnamed and the objects have no symbols. And, when i replace the modded by the normal patch_hd file and start the map editor in "normal mode", red character models (similar to the normal player spawn points) show up, and if i click them, the editor says "Invalid Object". All this just happens when i replace the modded files manually and with my own backup files.

If i use your Editor Mod Launcher and "restore backup", the modded objects are still on the map, but also the folders with the modded objects in the "add" menu (so nothing has changed at all), that looks like i am still playing the mod, which would mean your "create backup" and "restore backup" functions in the launcher don`t work^^ I don`t know if there`s a way you could fix this, of if it`s just logic that if i don`t have the objects i can`t use them (which definetely makes sense to me tbh)

Anyways, nice work overall man, but maybe you can have a look at that? :)

PS: Yes, my version of FarCry4 is legit, so that`s not gonna be the reason =)

Anyone else knows is this mod has "Items box" to get ammo, money and stuff? is any way to add more waves?

I tried this mod yesterday. No Item boxes. you also can't make more waves. but on PC you can add enemies after you reached the budget limit.

btw another problem you might try to fix is that when running Editor Mod, almost all "Rebels" are deleted from the Menu, and the ones included in your Mod are different ones (for example no Defenders, Snipers and RPG guys)
