What am I doing wrong here. I cannot seem to initiate it from either the pilot's position, or the bombadier's position. When I enter the proper command, I get a "Bombsight Automation ON" message, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to look through the sight itself.

I realise this is probably a dumb question with a simple answer that will leave me feeling stupid, but that's a chance I'll take!

You have to be in the bomber's position and press Ctrl-F1 (or maybe it is Shift-F1...sorry..I'm at work now).

shift F1 in bombardier position, you need to enter altitude and speed before you press bombsight automation.

Hit <shift> F1, I believe.

Maintain stable flight for the gyro-crosshairs to come on.

Shift or Control + F1 (same key strokes for centering sight)

But if you want to stabilize your sights then map a key for "level stabilization" so the plane stays level so you can line up your crosshairs and then hit "bomb automation", of course after you've entered the correct inputs like;
Altitude
Speed

I tend to try and trim the aircraft to fly nice and level, depends on wind and other variables, in the level stabilization mode you slowly loose altitude, but it is good enough to keep the site active and for you to make the last part of the bomb run.
