I've installed the new add-on "WWII Carrier Ops" into both my FS 2002, and 2004 flight sim programs. It comes with a detailed USS Enterprise off of Midway Isl. The Corsair, Hellcat, Wildcat, Dauntlas, and Avenger are included in the plane-set. With FS02/04 supporting Track IR, this should hopfully be a real treat. I'll post a follow-up here when I've evaluated it.

Looking forward to your follow up post. I don't want to sound overly pessimistic but I wouldn't expect too much. {Expecially if it is from Abacus}

I briefly considered getting this one myself, then decided against it. After consulting the publisher's page and looking at screenshots, I can't help but wonder if the aircraft models and cockpit panels aren't simply the CFS-2 models but made to be better compatible to Flight Simulator? http://www.abacuspub.com/catalog/s548.htm

Since CFS-2 is available for the same price or less, I see little reason to get excited by this FS add-on. The CFS-2 planes can be imported into FS 2002/2004 as working flyables, and I think there are FM updates via community sites to make them fly correctly in Flight Simulator. Of course, if you don't want both sims on your harddrive then I guess "WWII Carrier Ops" has its merits.

Thanks for the heads up Vidar, but I'm with these other guys. CFS2 seems to be the better choice for something like this. Just looking at the screenshot of the carrier tells me they didn't spend any time on detail. That carrier looks nothing like what a WWII carrier should look like, then they only give you 3 wires close together right on the fantail. lol yeah how many ramp strikes before you grab those suckers.lol
Let us know how the flight models feel. I have flown the FS series since FS5 and Abacus has always left me feeling ripped off when I purchased thier addons. THe flight models are usually awfull and the 3d models are subpar at best (so are the panels) You can find addons of much higher quality at any of the FS sites for free.
I purchased Flight DeckII and Flight DeckIII from these guys and thats the last bit of money I throw at Abacus.

What is that thing where the propellor should be? A dinner plate?

And does that plane had eight cylinders? Maybe I'm missing one?

And no, I've never seen a bomb nose down within 10 feet of the plane that dropped it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

As a fan of CFS2 when it was still modern, I can't say much. But i will say its sort of like a really old sit-com. Funny when it was on prime-time, goofy looking as hell now.

That is not CFS2 folks. That is a screenshot from flight sim 2004 with this WWII addon. FS9 is not designed for weapons which is why you see the bomb looking funny.
CFS2 is a little better than that people. I am currently tooling around with CFS2 and using the 1%fm and it's actually not to bad. The campaign is fun and I get to drop torps!lol

My findings... It SUX! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I only use FS2002/04 for practicing Precission and non-precission approaches. I have no other use for it.

Same here Vidar. It's great for instrument and procedure flying, but flight models are questionable and I'm not a big fan of the 2D pits.
FS9 is not a combat sim anyway, never has. Microsoft built all of thier CFS titles around the FS engine and it shows. Good for flying around looking at scenery, but not good for air combat.
I loaded up CFS2 just to fly around the carier and shoot some approaches. After spending so much time with AEP it makes CFS look really really bad.lol
Can't wait for PF that's for sure.

Gawd we are so spoiled. Those screenies look like cr@p.

PF is on the 6 week countdown calendar. While I'm skeptical about it making it's projected ship-date, I'm certain it will be worth the wait.
