No, but I do Flaker 2.51

I use it strictly for night missions with lots of missile exhaust from the larger missiles. S300, Kh~41, MiG~33 with R~33 missiles all over the sky outside your canopy. The missile eyecandy Rules. For anything else, I do the FB thing. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I bought Lomac to fly the Su-25 (a nice Crap Plane TM of its time) but it runs like a dog.
The box is collecting dust on a shelf.

Ive flown IL-2 and Il-2FB Online since the first day it was released.
I tried Lomac 5 weeks ago and am yet to get back to FB.
Sounds strange eh! but I must admit Lomac did catch my interest.
They are both great Sims, Lomac is in its infancy with only 1 patch release so far but patch 2 is now under testing for release soon.

They are Sims set in different time periods WW2 and the current day.
Gives a bit of variety I suppose.

I have found that although the Mission Editor in Lomac was harder to learn than FB, I can now build missions much faster in Lomac than I can in FB.
I like the different weapons array selections in Lomac and the ability to load custom weapons arrays although you may have to adjust your fuel load.

I especialy like the ability to be able to Host a COOP Mission in Lomac and be able to turn it into the equivilant of a DF server in FB before game launch.
It enables players to come and go from the game like a DF server in FB, but with moving ships in the server like Aircraft Carriers you can take off and land on.

The two Sims have different interfaces and Lomac takes time to learn like you had to learn with FB.
Every aspect of Lomac you have to learn again From Mission building, to the way you fly the jets to the weapon loads, to using the different radars, heat sensors etc.
This puts people off, Ive been in Lomac 5 weeks now and Im still learning new stuff.

The more I persist with Lomac though the more I have come to relize just how realistic it is, every instrument on your Panel works as it does in real life.

Be assured your Virtual life will depend on it when you join a game set at ACE settings, and you fly RIGHT INTO THE DANGER ZONE! ( chuckle)

I can honestly say, that if you are an Air Combat Sim enthusiast, Lomac is well worth a look at.

I quite like lomac, although i dont play it much. I have an MS FF2... but lomac overrides windows force settings, and wont let you alter in game (not untill next patch anyway). The result is i either have very strong forces, or i pull the power lead out and have none at all. Neither make for enjoyable flying http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I fly both. Actualy FB and Lomac do not substitute but complement each other. Graphics is different, but i cant tell wich one is better. I love terrain in Lomac with it's thousands of trees, buildings, roads with the traffic. Weather effects are awesome, though such things like overcast clouds require a lot of computer power.

Jes't feel completely different. You can climb verticaly couple thousends meters just after take off. The modern warfare is different but not easier than at prop era. Mainly because you oponent has the same weaopons you have. To get the missle kill is not thet easy. It's not enogh just to lock the target on the radar, though to lock target is not easy eather. You opponet will shak off you missile eather making aviding manuvers to waste missles enegry or to make missile loose the lock.

Damage model is the aria in wich FB superior. In lomac developers just didnt pay attention to it because majority of kills are made on the big distance.

Both sims are one of the best purchases I made.

LOMAC? Is that a flight sim or something?!?http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Not much of a jet sim fan and after that craptacular demo, I'll pass for the close-up areial intensity of FB anyday.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I own it. Maybe some day, I'll invest more than 15 minutes in it. I think I'm more of a prop guy.

Probably in the minority as far as the flight sim world goes. Is that a correct statement I wonder?

I am really enjoying both since originally I was a jet jockey and fell in love with props with IL2, believe it or not, I never liked EAW. Both are great sims and they do a very good job in detail.

Same, FB is my only flight sim love http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Eh, mates! What's the good word?

lockOn ? Yes, I have it but to playing it I must to waiting next year (new video card and Hotas controls), by now I enjoy IL2 & FB with Sidewinder FF2... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

The best and worst thing that happened for LOMAC was the quality of IL2.

It got people excited at a new sim and made them forget that most flight sims of recent years have been bug riddles sh*te on release.

On the bright side, F4:SP4 was released this week.

I enjoy a good jet sim as much as a good prop sim but so far I havent been able to get into LOMAC. Maybe its the fact thats its just barely playable on lowest settings whereas FB plays decently even on perfect settings, and the graphics arent that much of a payoff for the performance. But I also think it lacks that feeling of.. I dunno, I'll call it 'flight' that other sims capture better than LOMAC.

02-28-2004, 03:26 PM
I fly bouth, altough must addmit that LOMAC has been my only game for the last couple of weeks. Still playing around with the mission builder, Fast Battle Planner, carrier take-offs and landings, didnt start a single campaign http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

Seems greatly uderestimated!

Sounds like you need an Upgrade of your PC or Video card. perhaps exnomage2000 ?
I started out in Lomac with a Radeon 9700 pro Graphics card and a GiG of DDR Ram.

Both FB and Lomac run like a dream for me, on and off line.

I get the feeling from others though that if my PC specs where any less, I could have problems.
Anyhow thats technology for you, I guess if you buy new combat sims you need to look at system requiements to run it, then double those specs.

I have both. I haven't played either for about a month, and I haven't used that computer much at all recently either. I foolishly lent FB to a friend who wasn't really interested in FB but asked for it anyway. He must have then lost the game because he repeatedly 'forgot' to return it. I got it back eventually, played it one afternoon to check out the new patch, then quietly forgot about the computer.

Yes, also play Falcon 4.0.

That's quite a wide variety of answers. After having fooled around with LOMAC for the last two days, I've gotta conclude that, for me, LOMAC compliments FB. True, I can't the graphics settings up, but hopefuly that'll be corrected by my A64bC computer this summer. However, I don't think I'll join a new LOMAC squad if 3./JG51 doesn't fly LOMAC as well as FB.

I'm still confused as to the original comparison. Lomac is brand new. FB/Il-2 has been around for awile. Lomac=Modern Air Combat. FB=WWII. The Machine to run Lomac at max settings doesn't exist yet. FB runs great maxed out on todays hardware.

I love Lomac and play it more than FB at the moment, but I even find time to still play F4 too.

Time Management my man!

I used to be a big fan of modern sims. Played Falcon 3, Apache havoc.

But Fb`s got me now. And for a long time I always wanted a good damage model- Lomac really should have a good damage model too (sometimes you do get close). I like to see things brake up in different ways.

Besides, Fb has more `meaning...` for me.
