I had an idea for a neutral hero since the game doesn't have any. I'm not good at art or creating a picture of the card though.

Neutral Hero:

stats: 2/0/1

-Can play any creature from any faction
-However, doesn't have access to any spells
-not sure if it should have an ability

I don't think it would be a competitive hero, but that's o.k.. The idea is that it would be really fun to play. What does anyone else think? Also if someone has the ability to design a picture of this card, that would be great :) you can name it whatever you want. I don't know how the lore would work either.

My initial thought would be: We already have Crag Hack who can play Neutral creatures cheaper.

What I'm afraid of is that this Hero would enable players to select the best creatures from every faction, and add the best removal fortunes available.

Yeaah.. no. The 2 versions you guys suggeted would make that hero way overpowered.

I don't recall where (Which thread/forum) I suggested the neutral heroes in, but the way I had submitted them was the opposite of how you guys picture it. I still think the idea of neutral ideas is awesome, but I cannot see how they could be different than how I pictured them. Basically, it was something like that -->

- Can only use neutral cards
- Starting stats and/or abilities and/or spell schools will exceed the limit of what is normally acceptable for a faction hero (a hero could have a passive + an activate, instead of having just 1 ability for example.. or 4 magic schools.. or 2 / 2 / 2 stats, etc.) <--- these anomalies would be to balance the fact that they can only play neutral cards (spells too, of course)

With the new cards that have been released in SoB and Griffin Bane, I could totally picture at least 2 solid heroes with abilities / stats that would support mercenaries for one and elementals for the other. The beauty of neutral heroes is that it would give players the feel of a "new faction", without taking cards away from the other 6 factions every expansion (like creating a new faction would).

Here are some RANDOM examples that I came up with the last time I reiterated that idea in reply to a "create new faction!!" thread.

For EXAMPLE (examples only..):

Dyadalios, the Mountain Lord

Earth / Prime
Starting Hp - 30
1 might / 1 magic / 2 fortune
Ability1: Earth creatures gain regeneration 1 (passive)
Ability2: Until next turn, target melee creature gains anchored and towering (2 cost)
---

Kaji, Lord of Volcanoes
Fire / Prime
Starting hp - 20
3 might / 1 magic / 1 fortune
Ability: Until next turn, opponent cannot deploy creature on selected battleground location (6 cost)
---

Gabriela, Ocean Lord

Water / Prime
Starting hp 18
1 might / 3 magic / 2 fortune
Abillity 1: When Gabriela, Ocean Lord's fortune is 4, water creatures gain swift (passive)
Ability 2: Water creatures' might requirement is 1 point lower (passive)

This was before SoB was released. With the new elementals, it seems Ubisoft could even go the "let's make theme neutral" heroes.. one theme per expansion would thus give us an elemental based hero, another could give us a mercenary hero.. then later in another expansion we could have another variant of neutral theme deck (along with a hero that support it). Craghack could very easily be changed to become a neutral hero too (with proper buffs to fit the loss of stronghold creatures).

I know I would find that concept much more interesting and easy to balanced than if you open up access to several factions to a hero.. seriously.

I think neutral hero would be pretty fun. Maybe something along the lines of mercenary. Would have pretty regular stats like 1/1/1 or 1/0/2 and an ability like: pay 2 - until end of turn, attacking with mercenaries cost 0.

Or an elemental leader where you can only use elemental creatures and elemental damage.

Just some thoughts.

By the way, I play a spy only deck in open with Yukiko so any of these "extreme specialist" heroes I think would be really fun to play.
