With the announcement of Pacific Fighters and the introduction of the Aces expansion pack, it seems as if the IL-2 universe is expanding beyond the Eastern front and beginning to span the entire war. Do you guys think that the series is ultimately headed to a single product that covers the World War II eastern, western, pacific, and with the new screenshots of the desert map, perhaps the mediterranean? The single product would be something like Fighters Anthology back in 1998. Except now you can fly in every major conflict in World War II modeled to historical accuracy with dynamic campaigns. Is this where the product line is headed? A single all encompassing World War II sim would definitely have a broad appeal to the mass market.

I think we'll have a smattering of ETO, an expansive PTO, and the already impressive Eastern Front.

I don't see IL2 going beyond there but its certain part of what Oleg wanted from what I've read to have the series encompass a number of fronts and this its doing nicely!

I've always wanted a Burma/Flying Tigers map and some early Japanese a/c but somehow I don't think this will happen.

Here's hoping that Battle of Britain will eventually include a full Medeterraian Theatre

I see the majority of the community going over to PF and FB/AEP becoming all but a ghost-town. But I hope for continued interest in the Eastern Front.

I don't think Oleg will have enough time to produce all the theaters of WWII before BoB is complete.
Thus, I think the IL-2 series is gonna end with whatever planes and theaters they've made until then, which will undoubtedly be a lot, but not with all the theaters.

I dunno, the FP people could do a kinda Med Patch or something.

I heard the FB people were gonna make a few more Easter Front maps--late 44 and 45 stuff if I read it correctly. If they do I hope they have winter versions too.

FB is an old engine based on DX8 technology

even tho it takes a long time to bring out a new , even more detailed game thats what we will have to wait for

FB's future has been given a boost with the Pacific Fighters project its still an engine without a future

the future is DX-Next ...... i only hope BoB is delayed long enough for it to get influenced by DX-Next

till then all we got is FB & then PF

i know that new stuff has an appeal (PF) still by the time BoB is going to be released we will be well ready for it ....
