In a recent Post Oleg said he was looking at Compiling an Add on with some new staff after the Initial Patch Bug Fix is released.
Have really noticed the Versatility of Forgotton Battles with the new Aircraft that are comming like the Zero and F-80, and after seeing other Aircraft like the F6F Hell Cat currently being Modeled by 3rd parties.

While the Sim Forgotton Battles was initialy released as a WW II Combat Flight Sim for the Eastern Front, there is actualy nothing in the name Forgotton Battles that indicates all Air Battles Built in your Mission Builder need to be staged in a Eastern Front Area.

Examples P40-E Versus Japanese Zero, F6F Hell Cat Versus Japanese Zero, P38 Versus Japanese Zero, Hurricane versus Me 109, to name just a few.

It has occured to me that a Add On compiled by Oleg and Team containing some New Maps would generate even more interest Globaly.

Example a single South Pacific Map, immediatly attracts the interest of the USA, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Maylasia, ( Lots of People there)for the purpose of recreating Forgotton Battles between Japanese Zero and P-40 and P39, as well as Aircraft currently being Modeled.

A single Map of English Channel Area immediatly attracts interest of Europe, ( lots of People here too)

I do not know how much work is involved in Map Making but it seems to me after reading many posts in forums at Official IL-2/FB site, there is huge potential for any Add On released by 1C by the inclusion of 2 Maps let alone what other surprises you may have in store for us in that Add On.

Cheers,
and thanks for a great Combat Flight Sim.

PS Please excuse Edits correcting Spelling Mistakes

Actually, if they skip the city buildings and some meaningless details, I think they could make maps real easy just to toss out to people needing an approximate map of, say, English Channel. Tully just pointed out that the Volga River used in Stalingrad map is the re~engineered river from modern sat imagery.

I am with you, soft of:

I think if they incorporate some "FICTICIOUS" maps that resemble the terrains of of some desired theaters like:

* N. Afrika: sandy Desert with some green patches and sunes. Maybe some settlements or camps. Perfect for Romel VS Rats battles. Medium size.

* Pacific: Blue sea, sandy beaches, bluer sky. Perhaps one with with lots of water + small islands and/or another pacifific style with bigger islands and still some water.

* Mediterraneo: Earthy landscape, with mountain crest, hills and lots of treens (a mix between greece, Italy and Spain will make lots of people happy).

These are just exaples, but I am sure are enough to content and allow more variety and perfect integration with planes to come.

The maps should be roughly based on landscape styles, but totally ficticius, like the ones we already have for Online games, but of bigger size (they are a bit too small). This will probably nake the developing time much shorter, as accuracy is completely innecesary. Specially the lts of sea/sand should be quite easier (plenty of water or plenty of sand).

Well the reason I actualy put the suggestion forward guys was after visiting the Un Official IL2 Skins Site, and seeing the Hundreds of Skins made by IL-2/FB fans from all the theatres of WW 2.
It was surprising to see the number of Japanese Skins already created, and I know that I am not the only person who runs an Online Server Game that has tried to imitate the English Channel using the Gulf of Finland Map.

It does seem that, by the inclusion of a few maps in an Add on, because of Aircraft already in FB and currently being modeled for FB, that you would be able to create Coops and Host DF server games from many different theatres of WW2.

Just from a few maps, is pretty good value when you consider the extra interest that may be generated in purchasing an ADD On CD for FB.

Sweeten the Pot so to speak, appeal to a much wider Audience of potential purchasers of an Add On Cd, that sort of thing.
