I was watching the History Channel (I call it the Hitler channel due to there being so much programming on that fashion assasin) tonight and they were using a computer re-enactment of the raid that killed Yamamoto. The animation looked suspiciously familiar. Could it be they used Il-2 FB in prefect mode to render the pictures?

Now with an actual index & more fiber! It is newer & and even more improved! It's Luckyboy's Guide For Complete Users!...

Rome: Total War is used in the show "Decisive Battles", so I can't see why they wouldn't use IL-2...

Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...
Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...
The whole damn place is full of queers, navigators, and bombadiers...
Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...

LOL @ Hitler Channel. You know, I've been saying the same thing for quite some time now! I've been waiting for them to spin that off as it's own channel, like Discovery Wings...

I just wish they would broaden their perspective with the documentaries a little bit more - If you had never received any other information about these events than what History Channel offers, you'd think that the only countries involved in WW2 were US, USSR, Germany and Japan, and that the latter two were fielding some kind of demonic zombie army from hell led by Satan himself.

Negative - that was all CGI. No FB to be found in that program. Not to mention that P-38J's weren't used in the raid... But that's beyond the scope of the program.

I think it was part of the History's Mysteries series. It isn't that important though, many times they call their shows by the wrong names. For example, a show will come on about the M-16 rifle with the introduction from the Tales of the Gun series, but when it cuts to a commercial break, there's a little outro that says 'Modern Marvels will return in a moment'.

My wife is a historian and, believe it or not, she despises the history channel. She and her colleagues have called it the Hitler Channel for years, mostly due to their seemingly endless shows on Hitler, the never-ending military "historical" shows, and their one sided views of history.

Totaly OT, bu tI recently read a book called "mortal error: the shot that killed Kennedy"

Very interesting read...it puts foward the theory that in fact, the shot that blew off JFK's skull cap was shot mistakenly by a SS agent in the following car with an AR-15...the only cover-up involved in the assassination was to cover-up the fact that it was a simple, silly human error that REALLY killed JFK...( although it is still contended that Oswalds bullet that entered the spaine would have left JFK a vegatable, at best)

Check it out, it's really hard to believe anything else after reading it

"Consequences are for lesser beings; I am Ki-Rin...that is sanction enough"

Well, ok, so JFK's dead and the Hitler Channel sucks, but what about the graphics they used to produce those P-38's flying just above the water; IL-2 FB ACE or not?

i call it the war channel, lol.

But last night, bleary eyed, they had a programme all about ww2 planes at airshows, with clips of P38 (before it crashed), the 109 with DB engine, loads of Spits, a Hurri, Jug, 'Stang, b17 and so on. very nice.

Crashing online as :FI:SpinyNorman

Normally Spiny Norman was wont to be about
twelve feet from snout to tail, but when Dinsdale was depressed Norman could be
anything up to eight hundred yards long.

Great to hear bazDude, but how 'bout it, anybody want to tell me if it was IL-2 FB ACE that was used to produce the animation?

Ask yourself this simple question: Have you ever seen an airfield like the ones on the TV show anywhere in FB?
