View Full Version : why ubi never solve the important issues in their patchs

i mean with important issues model a head movement so the bars, the head rest and the gunsight dont block your view (how could i drive if i had my head static)

and the thing that dissapoints me the most, that half of the planes wont stall with the joystick fully pulled, its absolutly ridiculous a dog fight with biplanes both players with the joystick fully pulled turning around each other

but i can wait for ever that they wont solve these problems

this is intended to make money and seems that making the thing dificult generates complains

i cant imagine what people would say if you had to use the stick, the trhotle, the trim, the mouse view and something else for the head movement (this would be simplified integrating both the panning and movement of the head in the mouse)

so in the end we have a game thats too easy to play (i would be able to play it one hand only with trackir)

the worst thing is that this is the best simulator so theres no other thing to do than to wait for a better one

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, be sure.

If you find FB too easy there are ways to add challenge. Have half a dozen of your mates beat the living daylights out of you 10 minutes before you play- that will add to the difficulty, I assure you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Günther Rall

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Mmmmm,
The guy puts up a serious point and he gets p*ssed on.
Is it all too difficult to have the view to be able to shift up/ down. left/ right as well as pivot from a fixed position as it does now ?
Coding you say ??
If on the keypad 8 would have you looking up, could not SHIFT 8 (for instance) have you raising your head ?
Wouldn't it (excuse my ignorance) just take a few lines of simple code ?

OK, Ok, point taken. I think the wording was taken literally. Of course it is understood that things are not "simple" at all.

Try this out;
If the view can be coded to revolve in a circle, is it really any more difficult to make the view rise/ fall, shift laterally left/ right and to keep those movements to a realistic range ?
I mean with Vietcong or Far Cry or a lot of aother FPS's there is a setting for a sideways look around an object....usually the 'Q' and 'E' keys.
Also Stand, jump, crouch and lie flat.

Alexander_Seil
07-29-2004, 11:45 PM
I don't think that would be overly useful to bother with. You may catch a glimpse of the enemy fighter as he disappears yet again behind the cockpit bars, but that's about it. Such a feature would only be useful on an open-cockpit plane, where you could actually lean to the side and check your six that way, but that would be too much of a hassle to code.

Besides, virtual soldiers in the various FPS games out there are apparently trained and cybernetically-enhanced to carry out maneuvers unaccessible to regular mortals...try strafing in real life, for one, while still laying down accurate fire http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif On a serious note, not being strapped tight onto the seat generally benefits your ability to look around http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

If a 'plane dissapears behind the cockpit bars hit Shift+F1 (centre gunsight, not the WW ctrl+F1). It will "move" the pilots head backwards or forwards slightly, it works well for looking out towards the rear too. Try it, you might like it.

The 'planes on mine stall all the time too.

And if all else fails try Control Panel&gt;Add/Remove Programs&gt;IL2 Forgotten Battles AEP&gt;Remove. Problem solved.

Can't do head side to side by much because of the way cockpits are done, only
the parts facing the current views have textures.

Other things as well would require either too much work or a whole new sim engine.
Like FW front view or trim system. These are all old discussions.

Quick work Ivan! Were you able to contact him in private? I don't think the forum
is set up well for that, I don't get automatic notice of private topics for one.

probably because when we get moving head in cockpit, it will not be realistic, think about it for a moment...your most likely to want to use this functionality when in combat, when your turning hard in your car, how easy is it to move your head (unless of course your in a Citroen 2CV), yes, G-Forces will force you to want to hold your head straight to stop your head from being torn off your shoulders.

G-Force and natural physical reaction to such would also need to be modelled. seems like a lot of extra effort fixing for a minor issue.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

This demonstrates a remarkable amount of ignorance about how aircraft work, which in turn makes all of your complaints about "problems" similarly suspect, as you apparently have no good basis from which to judge correct from incorrect.

Putting aside the very real possibility that your stick mappings are simply messed up, there's no reason at all why a plane can't fly around with full control surface deflection ("stick fully pulled") and not stall. I've done it thousands of times. As far as the stall goes, all that matters is exceeding the critical angle of attack. If you don't do that, it doesn't matter how much or little "pull" you put into the stick, you're not going to stall it.

There's nothing specifically unrealistic or broken about airplanes turning with full control deflection without problems.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>the worst thing is that this is the best simulator so theres no other thing to do than to wait for a better one<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

And that's the way it has always been. You could say the same about MSFS 1.0 and Jet back when they came out. It was the same with SWOTL. Short of everyone getting Level D simulators in their homes, we'll always be saying that, and even then it won't be perfect. If you want perfect realism, go fly a real plane. That's the only way you'll ever get it.

the la and the biplanes dont stall with the joystick fully pulled turning levelled try it if you dont believe me
in fact with the la once you get the joystick fully pulled it never ever stalls unless you roll too much (the exact amount of turning you are loosing is the same rolling you are able to take at the same time you have the joystick fully pulled,if you were pitching to the limit you shoul not be able to roll at all)

if you press shift + f1 once centered and manouver the virtual head will move very much so de movement of the head is already coded but is not binded to any key

i repeat THE MOVEMENT OF THE HEAD IS ALREADY CODED

im pissed off because gradually they are turning the ferrari that was il2 into an automatic volvo that is now
