Just curious what the majority age range is on these forums. You can say your exact age if you want or just choose one of the options.

I'm somewhere between 28-35.

Well I certainly buck the trend. I could be grandfather to some of you....
While the age range is unsurprising, it seems young to me coz my favourite genre is race / flight sims. In those, average age is mid to late 30's and especially in the sim style flight games there are many in their 70's, 80's and occasionally even 90's.

I don't believe that a <10 year old kid can play such a game.First of all,the kid may not be able to understand the language,so he/she won't be able to understand anything about the story, mission objectives etc. Also, even if he/she has sufficient knowledge of English(for example) i am not sure he/she will be able to even finish the main story, find how to initiate side missions etc due to lack of video game experience. In other words, these kids will be completely lost in the game's world doing random things.
Let alone the violence etc....

I've babysat 9-10 year old kids who've borrowed, beaten, and love AC. Hell, I used to know a 10 year old who absolutely loves FPS set during the WW1-2.

A 10 year old should have sufficient knowledge of their language and can understand the main plot of the stories such as the death of a father, meeting an uncle, getting revenge, etc, etc. Reading might not be their strong suit, but after some tutorials, replays, trials and errors, they WILL get mission objectives, etc, etc. They simply take longer to adjust is all.

Although, they definitely won't be able to appreciate these games at the same level of quality as we do.

I know what you mean, but not all kids are like that. When I first played AC, I understood & completed it without an issue. On the other hand, my little brother played it (he's 9), & he couldn't even get past the tutorial. He wasn't like me though; he only plays Fifa & kids' games, so he's not really a gamer.

Then how did I get 100% completion in AC2 when I was 9?

Does anyone here actually take game ratings seriously? They're there for a reason you know...

IMO, 12yo and under should not be playing AC, 13 could also be a stretch

Take it from someone who studied psychology/sociology

Yeah, people can be the same age but have different levels of understanding. If someone has higher intellect then they'll probably be able to figure it out. People with low patience can also give up quicker. When I was 7 or earlier and playing video games I could always grasp them very well. I could beat all Halo's, COD, and other games with harder mechanics easily. This is due to me being one of the smartest in my grade and just having an overall level of maturity and understanding of instructions in general.

One thing I still struggle with though is story in games. This is just because I have little time to play and I do many side missions in between the main story. I also play many other games in between. This leads to me playing one story mission a week and then me forgetting what happened in the last mission. I am working on this though.

This morning I watched a video of all of Connor and Haytham's interactions and I was amazed at how good the story was. It doesn't translate to me when I'm killing hundreds of guards in between.:p

Problem with game rating is that most countries simply copy cover with it from country of origin, but culture in these countries is often too different and have different priorities and moral standards. F.e. Consummation of alcohol and tobacco warning is mostly considered needless in my country and it is target of jokes from all generations of players.

So I'm personally ignoring it and deciding it by my own judgement.
