The first AC game I played was Black Flag. I liked it a lot, gave it a 9/10, but that's another story.

Just finished the first Assassin's Creed and I didn't like it that much. It had a lot of potential and the story was kind of interesting. I liked the ending very much. But the gameplay, meh. I had so many frustrating moments with the gameplay, when Altair just didn't want to listen to me! He kept stopping in the middle of climbing ladders, buildings and what not. He kept moving to places I didn't want him to go. And the counter attacks, I wonder how many times did that idiot just ignore the possibility to counter attack and just took the hits standing there like an idiot. The missions were extremely repetitive, again though I liked the final mission and the cities looked mostly the same.

Well, now I begun the second one. Man this game is so addicting. The story continues exactly where first one ends and that's what I really liked about this one. Then we head off to Italy. They first introduce me to the main characters, making me care about them. Then we explore the city a bit, have a little of combat and so on. This is so much more fluent than the first one. I mean, even though I really liked Black Flag, even it doesn't seem as good as this one. Surely its gameplay was better, but this one has a deeper story (so far) and they just seem to have put so much work on improving this one that you literally cannot dislike it. Waiting to see what waits ahead with Enzio, so off I go to continue the epic journey >

Some claim that AC2 was the best game in the franchise. I personally prefer AC3 and AC4, but this is just my personal opinion.

In any case, it's not by accident that the Assassin's Creed franchise is one of the most beloved in the gaming universe.

As far as AC1 is concerned, you need to think that back in 2007, no game had ever achieved similar parkour mechanics and the combat was pretty cinematic for its time.

^ totally agreed.

AC2 is the best in the franchice for me, closely followed by Brotherhood. The other games were all awesome, but for me, none was as good as the second one. Have great fun there, son :)

AC2 is the best one because of its story, but OP is right, ac1 didn't have a very good gameplay, and since AC3 gameplay has improved. What would be extremely awesome is that someone [not necessarily ubisoft, maybe a very good modder] would make AC1 AC2 ACB, ACR with the graphics and mechanics of AC3. That would be awesome, but nobody would do this. Too time consuming

you started playing the series in the wrong order, you should have started playing from AC1 and take it from there since you will notice the progression, improvements in gameplay and mechanics carried from each title to the next taking community feedback into serious consideration, and as Aheradrim (http://forums.ubi.com/member.php/1387303-Aheradrim) said, back in 2007 AC1 was the real deal since it was the first to offer such things.

Regarding AC2, personally its my favorite as the story is so deep and it offered huge gameplay improvements from AC1, but that doesnt mean i didnt like other titles, all of them are very good and i believe Unity will be no different.

Just a question, What the title has to do with the topic?

AC1's combat system requires the most timing/patience compared to any of the other AC games. So you can't counter whenever you want or mash the button for combos. For counters/dodges you have to press the button just before the guards' attack lands, and for combos you should only press the button as soon as your previous strike lands.

What's funny about Assassin's Creed is that after completing it, I asked myself "how can Ubisoft top this game?"

Well, with each game since, I've been pleasantly surprised and eager for the next one!

AC2 is no question the best. In terms of storytelling it even matches Mass Effect 2 imo. Mass Effect as a franchise is still more interesting to me than AC. AC is a close second though.

Personally, AC:2's story and game-play was not the best (specifically Ezio), but its flow was near perfect. The way the entire journey for AC:2 and AC:B was designed made up for its problems and delivers an amazingly fluid and fun adventure. While AC:3 is my favorite of the franchise, it just wasn't as well-put together as AC:2 was.

AC3 was a huge jump forward for me.... some people don't like it but it was so good I use it as a standard to judge all games. Of the pre AC3 games I think revelations was my favourite closely followed by brotherhood.

I always feel a little jealous of people just discovering the series....knowing what lies ahead for them. :D

Stig I loved ME2 but I bought ME3 and after 20 minutes uninstalled it.... life is too short to have to sit through cutscenes that cannot be skipped.
